a few of my thoughts

So I haven't posted in a couple of days, but that's okay, because really who cares?!?, if you do thanks let me know.
Anywho, there hasn't been anything that I've just had to talk about so now that I have a few minutes I'll share a few things of note in the past couple of days.
ummm..... let's see,
Monday one of the children on my caseload who has a "special need" walked 23 feet all by them self! The child would have gone farther, but there were two bikes in the way and we had to stop and check them out. This is the farthest the child has walked here at school.
Tuesday afternoon around 2:30 we had a fire drill at school. Usually it's not that big of a deal, but it was my turn to do paperwork. I was getting all my stuff out and I asked if I could stay in and work on it (it's due by the 5th of every month) and the assistant boss told me no and to go see if any of the other teachers needed help. The first two classes I asked didn't, the third, being the infant room with four children, didn't either. Big deal, right? Well it was because there were still two children in their cribs! One of them was asleep and the other woke up when the alarm went off. I started to get the waker out but the assistant teacher told me the boss said the babies that were sleeping could stay asleep. So I finished making sure that no one needed any help and went outside. Should also mention that the alarm was done ringing. Well I asked the boss since it was just a practice and now we were done if I could go back inside and finish. She also told me no. This is where I really got irked, how do they expect me to finish my junk if they keep me out when I'm not really needed? So I only lost about ten minutes, which didn't do much harm this month, but it could have.
Tuesday, a little bit before 9 p.m. I'm about to make my lunch for Wednesday, when I stop to ask my husband if he had any clue what he might want for dinner tomorrow. I only asked so that I could plan my lunch out (points and veggies and fruit).
His response: "we haven't had fish in a while, ooh wait, what about those steaks you bought, no you know what I haven't had in a while? A big dinner salad. That's what I think we should have. "
I kinda look at him and just grin. He wants to know why. I told him "I've had salads and planned on having one for lunch tomorrow, but I guess I can change that."
So we proceed to plan out what all we want/need for our salad and I have to find a back up lunch plan. Usually not a big deal, but I've gotten used to having light lunches (5 points max) and saving 8 or so for my dinner. Well I thought about making tuna salad, but just didn't really feel like it. Instead I opted for my old stand by a Lean Cuisine, which is either 5.5 or 6 points and some fruit. Which positively enough still leaves me with 3 points to play with through out the day. Yay me!! So I get to pack a delicious new Snack Away Oatmeal Cream Cookie for 1 point and still have something random (maybe some wine).
Today, being Wednesday has been pretty good too. This morning on the playground I was talking to one of my children about something, haven't a clue now, but was important to us. I told that child "stop, that's groady". The child laughed and started repeating the statement like a parrot around the playground. I wonder if child will go home and repeat it mom and dad?
For lunch today I got lucky! We had left over ravioli and I got to have some. In case you're wondering a cup is 4 points and a cup of the 99% fat free kind is 4 points too. I think this is strange, but I know why. The regular has twice as much fiber as the low fat kind. This is exciting because now I know there's something else out there for me to eat. I was talking to my friend who did WW for a while and lost her goal. It's shocking how I used to eat lots and lots and lots of portions of food, but now that I've been eating the "right" portion for the last year and a half, I usually get full off the smaller amount.
Well now I get an extra two points for the day! A whole glass of wine!

F me

So my coworker is on vacation on Thursday 15 and Friday 16 of July. Well I come in this morning and double check that the boss wants me to come in early and run her shift so the floater can run mine. Well her response is "no come in at your regular time and work your regular shift, I'll go to your class since there will only be four kids". (I asked b/c I'd like to go out of town and see my mom since I haven't seen her since March and I've seen my dad a dozen or so time since then.)
Well I was irked, every other classroom gets to do this and someone else comes in and closes while they work the early shift. So I go downstairs and vent and say "watch I bet they want me to come in early and stay till the end of my shift". Sure enough, I'll be damned, checked my email and I'm supposed to come in early. How FUBARed is that? If I didn't' love this job (which may not sound like it later on b/c I've got lots of complaints about the women I work with) I'd really have to bite one and do something else. But I do, I'm here for all these wonderful children and their families. Stupid lazy supervisor/upper management/totem pole politics.
On a positive note she said I could leave early if the numbers were okay. What I don't get is the floater is hired for the sole purpose of our two combined classes in the basement to be in ratio. There are three of us in the afternoon. One leaves at 4:30, one leaves at 5:00 (me), and one stays to the end 5:30. Well there are usually eight or so kids left when the 4:30 person leaves, so I have to stay until the last person is in ratio (one to five) which is usually around 5:15ish. So if the floater works till 5:30, why can't I leave at 4:00? I mean there will still be three teachers until 4:30 and then there will be two teachers with the correct amount of children, it's what we are doing right now!!!
Well I'm sure come in a few weeks I will have something else to say on this matter, I hope it's a positive statement!!

Tupperware!!

Went to the Tuppeware party on Saturday and had a blast. I was a bit worried b/c I was going to be the only person there I knew (other than the consultant and her mom) (also I was the only country whity there too). However I had a blast. Monae did an amazing job hosing her Grand Opening and we all had a blast.
I'm definetly hosting a party and even considering becoming a consultant myself. I'll have to wait and talk to Monae about it after I get my guest list done.

my theme

So while talking to my husband about my blog, I've realized what my theme is going to be. I've decided that this blog is going to be dedicated to my opinions on anything and everything I want to talk about. For the people who know me, know that I love to talk. My dad says that I haven't stopped since the first word came out as a toddler and probably won't stop until I have released my last breath. I know that there isn't a person out there who wants to hear everything I have to say about everything I come across. My husband and I joke that my brain is like a pinball machine and that I have lots of thoughts and new thoughts from those and so on and so forth. Since I haven't been able to find a person to listen to all me and my talkativeness, this is where it is going to come out. The topics will be random and make very little sense. Whatever I come across and feel the need to express myself about, I will do it here.

Thank you for "listening".

Props are due

This is a post all for my dad. He might not ever read it, but I feel like the whole world needs to know about his achievement.

He is a man who went back to technological college a couple of years back and has really enjoyed his time there. Every time we talk he always tells me something that he's learned or done that is exciting to him. I personally didn't love my college time and wonder why I couldn't have gotten his interest in it. I went to "better myself".

Any who, he has participated in a competition called Skills USA for two years now. This is his school's website dedicated to the competition: http://www.ttcmckenzie.edu/. He is in the fifth photo down, the three guys in red sitting at the table, he's the one on the left. This is the page online that shows him winning a gold medal for his accomplishment: http://www.skillsusa-register.org/reports/medalists.aspx (gotta select Substainable Solutions in the left column and click view medalists) His teacher and his name is the 7th and 8th one down.

I got a phone call from him last night and he was so excited to inform me that his team/school has won Gold Medals AGAIN!! Last year his area of expertise, sustainable/green technologies, was a trial and error group. They did such a great job that it is now an official form at Skills. Well he did it again, just proving how important the work he is doing at school is. Last year their project was a hydrogen generator this year its a hydra electric model.

The greatest news is that the gold medal winners get a trimester of school paid for. So now he has two extra trimesters to learn. He says this is his last year doing the Skills, but we'll see. I think he will do more since he loves it so much.

Way to go dad!!

"SNACK" what?

So this is probably going to be a SUPER LONG ENTRY, if you don't have time or interest turn back now and find something else to read.

So just to let everyone know: I'm attempting to make healthier, more aware of nutrition, decisions about what I eat. I'm not eating organic, but more for "losing weight" purpose. I'm not necessarily trying to lose weight, I'm more trying to avoid putting on any extra. I'm not getting any younger, have a crappy metabolism that's not getting better, and I HATE EXERCISING. I know people say if you exercise you feel better, but I'm just not motivated enough to do it. I've done it before and felt great, but crap happens (for instance the weather or the pets or other people). I prefer to exercise in the morning, can't stand the thought of going home (arriving close to 5:30) exercising for an hour and then trying to eat dinner. First I'm HOT and don't want to eat, second I have been trying to eat before 7 for the last few years (it's a resolution that I've actually stuck with, YAY for ME).

Also a friend of mine and I discussed a while back the benefits of eating fruits and veggies and how easy it is. I've done pretty well and usually get four total a day with a goal of at least five (since it's the minimum and all). I have a veggie for mid morning snack, a veggie and a fruit at lunch, a veggie and hopefully a fruit at dinner (sometimes I just have to eat the sweet, good, bad for ya crap). Plus my in laws started WW (*future note *doesn't mean anyone else agrees with me I'm just using a generalization) a month or so ago and I know my points value I'm allowed a day. The fruits and veggies count really low (zero or one or two points each maxing out around five for the really fatty large fruits), this is really helpful during the season to get fresh produce that is FABULOUS.

Well anyways since I've explained my reasoning now I'm going to vent my opinion about a couple of things. I was online checking my email at Yahoo and you know how they always have the front page items. I clicked on 100 calorie supermarket snacks and read (well that'll come later) and then at the bottom there was a link for the 50 healthiest snacks and this is where I start. Here's the post if you're interested http://www.self.com/fooddiet/2010/06/50-healthiest-snacks?mbid=synd_yahoohlth.

It starts out with savory items and then goes into sweet. For a person who is doing WW this is cool but also sucky at the same time. When you read this you think wow this is so helpful, but it just kinda rubbed me the wrong way.

SAVORY
Almonds; they are so fattening, which is what WW focuses on, and that really means that we* can't really eat that many, it's like six or some ridiculous small amount that's just a tease. Olives; 5, of any kind, really, surely not, you would think that it would be different based on type (black, green, kalamata, etc) and size (small, med., lg, jumbo). Heck if that's the case serve me up five black jumbos before you skimp me on five small ones! I love olives and can just sit down and eat the whole can, but a serving for us* is pretty high for such a small snack. I'm from TN... What's a Martin's pretzel. I'm thinking one of those carnival, size of your face pretzels here. One? 50 calories? Wow, like to see that small pretzel. And if it's just one of those that comes out of a bag FORGET IT, I'll pass and have something with a bit more flavor thank you. The fourth one is just kinda strange. I love BNB pickles, but don't know too many people who do. I can literally count on one hand: my mom, me, and my in laws (but I don't think they buy them they just eat the ones at Cracker Barrel). 1/4 cup hummus and three carrot sticks; what am I supposed to do with the left over hummus? Eat it with my fingers? Is it the baby carrot sticks or a large one that ya think of when you think of Buggs Bunny? If it's the baby ones, by WW standards, a person can eat a whole 3oz, which is about 10, and they are pretty sweet and tasty on their own, I've discovered (it's my mid morning snack usually thanks to Costco and my MIL). The next snack about hummus, crackers, and avocado; a tablespoon of avocado? That's kind of a weird measurement IMO. Asparagus and almonds; once again six? I'm obsessing I know, but have you ever really stopped and observed asparagus? There are such a variety of sizes in a bunch. Plus I swear WW says it's low in points, like 1 or 2 for 12! Almonds are also high on the good fat, but none the less have more points value. Also it is in my top five nuts and I don't want slivered ones, I want the whole darnn nut! I especially love them if they've got all the bad flavorings: wasabi, honey roasted, jalapeno, etc.. The potato suggestion; is great, I've done this a hundred times. But unless you've got to or want to, the whole "1/3 cup 1/2-inch-thick potato slices" is kinda unreal. I measure and weigh almost everything I eat, but to get a guide and to try to cut a potato in even slices is a great big PITA. Why couldn't they have said an amount? Like one small 4oz or something? The black bean salsa; HELL YEA, I'm going to make that sucker ASAP! Great suggestion. Love all the ingredients and it's so summery and so healthy sounding (even though the black beans can get a bit on the high point side). Cucumber suggestion; that's just weird IMO, I love them just sliced on their own, with salt, or with a creamy fatty ranch dip. However I also love yogurt, but not the plain stuff. To me this would be two separate snacks instead of one. But it could be good, it almost sounds like a spin on a cucumber sandwich without the bread. Whole wheat toast fancy; it's only a half a slice! What on earth? Why couldn't they have made a suggestion for a whole slice. Come on, who really eats just a half a slice? I've tried cutting back on some of my sandwiches and eat them "open face" with just one piece of bread, but that's just too much, cutting it down that far. Laughing cow and thin; pretty tasty. I already do something similar: I eat my LC on Mrs. Suzi's crackers from Costco. For anyone curious I get three crackers and one wedge of LC for 3 points, lots of protein and flavor. (Just wanted to mention that I use the LC regularly and it makes an amazing pimento and cheese for anyone who likes the stuff and wants it to be "low fat".) Tuna jerky; not even going to comment YUCK! Mozzarella and tomato; what kinda cheese is that and where can I get some? Is it low fat and tasty or disgusting? Cheetos;? I agree with the comment on the bottom of the page, enough said. Not much to say about the rice crackers, no opinion. Edamame; thought it would be lower in calories, but okay. Vegetable chips; I've always wanted to have these as a snack, but I feel like I'm cheating a bit by not eating the fresh stuff. Maybe during the winter when fresh isn't as readily available. Trader Joe's chips; once again 1/4 a cup. Not very much is it? Plus chips of all sorts are one of my weakness I LOVE THEM with a passion. Pumpkin seeds; no comment again. Don't eat them too much to know anything about them. Prosciutto and dried figs; haven't have dried figs. Love prosciutto and fresh figs (but haven't had them together, just separately). Wonder what the two taste like together? Guess I'll have to investigate and possible try. OMG they are suggesting nuts again! Cashews; are also in my top five fave. nuts. I only get nine! What a tease! Subway Turkey Breast Wrap; wow there are only ten more calories in a whole wrap than in nine cashews. Enough said about both. I would choose the wrap: more substance, not a trigger food, and would last way longer (eating and filling wise).

SWEET
Plain yogurt; not sweet! I only use the stuff to make smoothies in which the fruit is obviously making it sweet! More often than not I use low fat Vanilla. My friend who doesn't really even like sweets likes to make cucumber smoothies using the plain stuff b/c she agrees it's not sweet. Fla-Vor-Ice Lite Sugar-Free; I could see this. However I rarely choose to eat a Popsicle. I'd rather have the creamy stuff and if I do eat Popsicles they aren't usually sugar free (which is weird b/c most other things I choose are: kool aid, jello, pudding, and the like). Frozen grapes; why is it suggested to freeze them? Is it supposed to make eating them slower? I've heard of doing that with jello and yogurt and pudding. 10? By WW standards you can eat a whole cup for one point! I can usually get about 18! Fruit Crisps; not a bad idea if they are tasty. I bought some apple and pear dehydrated crisps and thought I was doing good, but they weren't so much. The pear was decent, but there was only six in a box of 20ish. Strawberries; why roll them in powder sugar? They are usually sweet enough on their own. I like to slice them so that I feel like I'm eating more. Also it states 10. This is such a hard thing to go by b/c we all know that those delicious berries range in size. I would choose all 10 to be the size of my hand. This is one time I think a measurement of sorts would be handy. WW says 1 1/2 cup for 1 point. That's an easy standard to follow. Slice the suckers, fill up the cup, and dump into bowl or container to tote. (So it's around noon now and THIS SOUNDS SUPER YUMMY, wish I had some to eat). Mocha cookies; never heard of em', but I bet they are tasty (to me anyway). I LOVE mocha flavored foods. However I bet it's a package of two cookies that are smaller than Oreo's. If that's the case give me ice coffee please! Froz Fruit bar; yummy I'll take one. However I'm sure it's worth two points to WW followers, do I really wanna take that? I could eat two cups of fresh fruit or a large apple or orange. Jelly Belly; I'm a huge fan of. I'm not sure about their nutritional value. I did read somewhere that if a person ate 20 (I think that's the number), about half an hour before a meal they would consume fewer calories in their meal. I'd hope so considering they would have just eaten a hundred plus chewy flavorful calories. I like to save mine and have them as desserts, especially when you have the little cheat sheet to make fun combinations! Trader Joe's Graham Cookies; once again no opinion. I'm sure it's one of those little packages like Nabisco offers where there's usually have 7 to 10 thumb nail sized treats. This is also such a tease to me. I feel like I can eat a whole box of these suckers. Of course that makes sense consider cookies don't really have filling food worthiness, they are just tasty fat packers. Balance Bar; usually these things are about two hundred calories. This site states it's only a hundred. I bet it's a three bite bar (like the two bite chocolate brownies at Kroger's). Newtons; yummy, especially the raspberry flavor. But two? I'm sure that's the serving size on the package. But in case you haven't understood my standpoint I like to get more food for less. Trying to have my cake and eat it too I know, but once I understood that I could eat all kinds of stuff (i.e. Greek Yogurt, peppers with dip, cup a grapes, string cheese, serving of carrots) for 6 WW points or a little bitty Lean Cuisine for 6 WW points, which one do you think I'm going to choose? Which one would you? I know this winter I'll probably go back to eating those super convenient meals, but right now the fresh stuff is AMAZING (especially if you can get it from a local (read Uncles) garden) and I get to eat so much! Starbucks Frap. bar; count me in! I love mocha stuff as you already know and surely since its a Starbucks product it's gotta be larger than the average bar, right?!? But if it's a small one they can keep the sucker, I'll eat a Fiber 1 instead (haven't a clue about its WW value, guess I should find out considering I have tons of them, they are so gooey chewy delicious and pretty filling too). Graham sticks; huh? I'd like to compare this to a regular graham cracker. Is this just for convenience sake? I understand candy bars have made sticks but I thought that was so you could have the taste in a smaller quantity? Banana and chocolate; sounds kinda yummy. But why only a half? And why frozen? I've done the frozen banana thing with my husband a couple of times. He really likes it. At the grocery store next to the banana display there's this banana chocolate freeze dip stuff and we've done it. It's kinda tasty. I prefer to eat the banana fresh. I used to like the banana where they were yellow and had green ends. Still kinda firm and tasty. Then I tried a banana that was turning brown and realized it's way sweeter, so I started eating them like that. Did it for a few months and then the grocer told me that the other way was better for ya. So I'm working my way back, I eat the yellow banana's no green ends. I'll get there one day I know. PB and celery; ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SNACKS!!!! I've never had the butter they are suggesting, but I KNOW that using the real PB isn't that low in calories. Two tablespoons of crunchy has 190 calories and a WW value of 4 points. Believe me, this is a hard one. I can eat the stuff out of the jar by the spoonfuls. Used to do it. I would do the healthy celery and small serving and go back for more. Damn trigger food! Funny enough though, our dog loves it just as much as I do. I open the jar and she's there instanstantly, like she's apparated, with drool three inches long! Smart Pop Mini; great stuff. I prefer eating kettle corn popcorn, thanks to my super close friend who got me addicted to the stuff in college, but haven't really found a "healthy" way to eat it yet. This suggests a teaspoon of sugar. I bet if I ever go to the dark side and use Splenda I could use more than a meager teaspoon! I'm going to have to start weening my self soon. The stuff just leaves a weird feeling in my mouth. Now there's an amount of popcorn one person can eat. I always hate popping a bag. If my husband doesn't want to share, than I feel the need to eat the whole bag ( I can't stand to throw stuff away) and it isn't too good left over. Candy apple; with coconut shavings? so few calories? That apple has to be the size of a grape. I've always thought those things were way bad for you! Even if I do eat one (I of course prefer the caramel with nuts kind) why would I put coconut on it? Pears; with marshmallow cream one word YUM! I love making the marshmallow cream and cream cheese fruit dip, but it doesn't love a person back. That stuff is so good with all the fruits I've had. I could probably sit down and eat the whole darn container. My family also likes to take the stuff and make our own version of stuffed french toast and waffles with fresh fruit compote. Well I've discovered that I like fresh pears on their own and can't wait for our roommates pear tree to produce edible sized ones this fall. Annie's Grahams; probably tasty, must compare the options. Are they really worth the "hit"? M&M mixed with granola; good stuff. It's like homemade trail mix. But ya gotta watch the granola, that stuff can be loaded with hidden "healthy" stuff. Cereal and milk; ummmm...... snack? I usually have cereal with out the milk as a snack. The milk makes it a meal I thought? Apples and caramel; I'll have some please! Especially if it's a Granny Smith. However the caramel isn't the greatest suggestion. I know this is a sweet list, but have a Fuji, it's pretty sweet on its own and you don't have to eat the fatty gooey stuff. I'm sure there's another "dip" that's comparable to caramel, I just don't know it. Oooohhh ooooohhhh oooohhh what about a caramel flavored yogurt? Does that exist? If not I hope that a food creator reads this and makes one, preferable low fat or light or something along those lines. Chocolate chip cookies; what's up with that? Does this even sound like a "healthy" suggestion? Not really, need to google it and see what makes em' so. McD's FnY Parfait; good stuff. I prefer to make my own. I can control the amount of the substance put in, plus I get to tweak it. Shake; might have to try. Would never have thought of using extract. Applesauce; first off warm? Doesn't sound yummy. My husband and I have this ongoing disaggreance about the topic. I like to have my refrigerated. He leaves his in a plastic bag. 3/4 a cup at 150 + calories? What are they eating. The ones we eat are the prepackaged ones by Mott's (I think), and they are 1/2 a cup for 50 calories (it is the natural unsweetened and granny smith healthy harvest ones). Does heating the stuff up make it have more calories? Chocolate milk; good stuff. Why isn't there a calorie count on it? Are they talking about the pre made stuff or the kind you make on your own?

Well all that's the first part, if you've made it this far, I swear it's only a little bit more. Keep on

This is the other website http://health.yahoo.net/experts/healthieryou/100-calorie-supermarket-snacks and they don't have near as many suggestions, but I like that they were suggestions with a cap on the calories.

Yoplait; yummy! Why are they specifically stating the red velvet flavor? There's so many to choose from that are good. I would choose a light or fat free one, but that's me. Bubble chocolate; what is that? I wanna try it. I love chocolate pieces. Right now I've got Ghirardelli at home and eat it so sparingly and indulge every time. Strawberry Sauce; I guess it's a good idea. I'm kinda weary of flavored applesauce. I like the granny smith one b/c it's made from my favorite apple versus having other stuff in it. But I guess it's not too wiered it's just basically strawberries puried with the apples right? Cereal and marshmallow; kinda like another home made trail mix. I think I'd rather put something other than the marshmallows. Tortilla, salsa, and LC; do it often. I use the flat outs and toast it. The night before or morning of I mix the LC with the salsa so it can "blend" and then spread the LC on the toasted tortilla. I usually have some sort of steamed veggie with it to help meet my daily quota. Popcorn; can't be bad if you like cheese popcorn. Not much nutritional value, but tasty stuff. Pears; freeze dried? Don't know if I'd try em' again. I've still got all the apples from the box I mentioned earlier. It's 30 calories per bag. SF Jello with whipped cream; the bomb, love this little treat. Been doing it since I was a little girl. My PGma was diabetic so we did lots of things similiar to this. Trail mix; can we say two bites? One tablespoon of each? Really? Boo on this suggestion! Fruit salad; love this! Wondering what kind of salad? Most people put some kinda creamy stuff in the salad, if that's the case no need for the cool whip. My in laws use fresh squeezed oranges and it doesn't really need the cool whip. It stands alone! One of my favorite parts of their holiday dinners. Strawberries; suggestion repeat, not going to repeat my opinion.

Well that's it folks! Aren't ya glad? If you made it this far you must have something to say. Please feel free, I'm begging ya, leave me a comment (don't be too harsh).

tears of all sorts

So first off the ladies that I complained about last night left a good tip (20+%) and they had finished their dessert by the time I finished my post.

So the sad to me news (with all kinds of mixed feelings) is I only have one more serving shift. I know I mentioned that I would be done and I don't guess it really hit me at that point. Last night while I was working the manager told me that after the next shift (next Thursday) it'll be my last and I won't be on the schedule anymore. I expected it, but a few minutes later I was WAY BUMMED (esp. since it seems like everyone stopped to ask me about it, the majority of them already knew, they just didn't think about it with their own busy lives and all). So in my moment of sadness I told the manager that I would still be willing to fill in as a Hostess or Expo if needed as long as they called a day in advance so I could bring extra clothes to my day job (the owner always calls the day of and asks me to work, I NEVER CAN, no clothes (not enough time to drive home, change, drive to the restaurant, and still work)). So I told my husband about it and he was okay and understood. I'm not that great at saying goodbye. I've worked there for five years. It was one of my two first jobs when I moved here and I started two days after moving and been there ever since.

Well those are the tears of sadness, but today I find out this chick (that I love, she's great) gets a "promotion" and she's only been there about a year or so! Ever since I started working the restaurant I've always wanted to work in the bar or be a cocktail server (they make way hella more money than a normal server). Every time I've asked they told me I couldn't make it to work early enough (gotta be there by four and I don't get off my day job until five) or couldn't "handle" doing it by myself on the few days I could (Mondays and Saturdays usually just have one CS). But of course my friend gets scheduled "accidentally" to do it on a Saturday night! I asked about it and how come I've still never been able to after five years of working there? The manager's response is "well I've got to try her and test her to see if she is able to or not". What about me? I never got "tested"! I know I don't suck I've gotten WAY TOO MANY COMPLIMENTS and very very few complaints (kinda funny how similar those two words look, huh). I know why deep down inside: b/c I'm not a b!t(h, she isn't either, but she isn't a sweet push over the way I am. I'll be the first to admit: I don't like to rock the boat. I take what I'm given and be grateful for it and do it to the best of my ability. Also she has had some experience as a bar tender at other places, and I haven't.

So when she told me I was a bit peeved and thought "to hell with them, I'm not going to be an on call person, f them, that makes me so pissed I'll just be done, they screwed themselves over". But I know that I'll take em' up on the offer if they call just because I enjoy working there overall and love the people. But I know if I show up and she is CS instead of on the floor I'll get angry all over again with jealousy.

Then there's "tears" (no really, just emotions) about one of my other friends at the restaurant loosing her job. I'm sure it's for a good reason and it's not like I'm going to see her again since I don't work there, but it's sad. She's been there awhile and has an important role. I'm sure you're wondering "if they are friends won't she see her outside of work"? Well it's kinda hard, she's a mom of two, they don't live close, and we run in different circles. We've talked about having a girls night once a month, but we'll see.

More positive "tears"..... This morning when I arrived to school one of my parents asked me to watch their kids in the near future. So at least I know that I'll still be having some sort of extra income until my husband starts making the big bucks.

Mixed emotion "tears".... I had a friend back last fall that I haven't been able to get in touch with and continue to try. A few weeks ago I sent her a message just to see if she's okay or not. I never heard anything from her. Well last night, for some strange unknowing reason why, I had the strangest feeling/inkling to call her and check on her (mind you we haven't spoken in almost seven months) and I did. I left a really nice message without any "negative" words or comments. I called her last night on my way home around 9:30 or so. I wonder if she'll call me back. I guess if not I should take it as the end and say goodbye, but once again I'm not good at that. Especially when I think true friends are a virtue and a blessing to have around b/c they'll stick by your side no matter what, even if it takes a bit of time to know and understand whats going on.

Hope today is better

RRRRRRRR

So it's almost nine on Thursday night and I'm really really wanting these women to LEAVE so I can too. I'm at the restaurant and they are taking their precious time eating their whole meal! First I sat their plates down in front of them (main course) and they just wait for almost five minutes before trying it! WHY? Maybe b/c it was a little warm, but you can BLOW ON IT (heck that's what we teach kids). Then I'm ready to go and they decide they want dessert. I bring them the menu and they just continue to chat not even looking at it. I come back three minutes later and they haven't a clue. Finally they decide to share the dessert of the day YUMMY TRES LECHE!!! Well I take that to them and they wait another three to five minutes before tasting it. The main reason we come back soon after delivering the item is to make sure you like it, if you don't then that's the time to let us know so that we can make things better! I wonder if they've tried it yet?
Also just want to vent about nice parents (sorry to offend again). Had a kid who bit another kid at least twice on the FACE!!! Once on the cheek and the other was around the mouth and it drew blood under the lips. Well I had said child to sit down so it didn't happen again while I wrote a note and daddy shows up and sweet talks her! She was in trouble!!! How aggravating, not to mention I'm sure I'll get scolded for it tomorrow.
Adios

Too much...

So there was too much that I wanted to talk about to give this post a real title. I have to clock in for work in less than ten minutes so I probably won't finish and will do it during lunch break or in the morning (since I don't have Internet at home, guess I could just "write" the blog and copy and paste).

So I had the darnedest (real word, I swear) time getting my first blog to post last night. I tried several times. Had to finally break down and call my wonderful genius computer knowledgeable friend and have her help me. She had the simplest answer: did you verify your email account? Of course not, I don't remember a prompt saying to do that so why on earth would I even think of doing it? Guess that just goes to show ya how I'm not that savvy with all this stuff. However I'm learning and then I'm sure I'll get to teach my dad someday soon once I tell him I'm blogging (if I do, b/c I'm sure at some point I'll post something about him and won't know if I want him to read it or not). Back to the point, I got on this morning and verified my email and there was my very first post ever for the whole world to see, HOW EXCITING!!!!

So yesterday after work I'm getting ready to go to my car to drive home and my husband informs me that he bought a "new" (to him) to mower and wanted to play with it a bit (ours broke and we haven't been able to mow for several weeks) he keeps borrowing this thing called a scag (don't know if that's how it's spelled), it's one of those mowers you see people standing on to mow large lawns like at universities and what not. So I hung out and created my new B!t(h podium!! Well when I get home he tells me there are all these things he needs to fix before it runs "right". Tires are new and engines good, but seat is torn, blades stick, it cuts uneven, and several other things I can't remember!! His positive personality says "but since the tires are new they basically pay for the mower itself" (supposedly each tire runs about 65 bucks and he paid 175 total) then of course he's got to buy all these parts to make it run, so was it really a good investment? Only time will tell.

On another odd note, I've discovered that I can only go to "our gas station" before six p.m. BACK NOTE: A few weeks back I stopped there (instead of the one closer to the restaurant b/c the price was like a few cents more (gotta save it where ya can)) on my way home btwn twelve and one and there was this friendly cop making sure everything stays safe. Well of course I looked like HELL, it was on a Saturday where I'd been out of the house since tenish (went shopping till 2, went to a wedding at 2, went shopping some more till 4, went home changed clothes and worked till 10ish, then went to the reception till 11:30ish). Well I'm super friendly and thought that since he was talking to me and being a PO and all I should be friendly. He was nice, until he started to hit on me (by mentioning something about being married and my husband should be working hard to take care of me instead of me working all the time), then I just blew it off with some wonderful comment. HERE COMES THE KICKER (shame on me for being judgemental, but oh well)... He smiled! NOW I WAS SCARED!!! I'm a huge person for having a nice smile and when ya don't I kinda have a bit of a problem (wouldn't ever say it out loud), but it's really hard to look at someone when they've got a mess going on in the most obvious place on your face! I was a little wigged. END OF BACK STORY So I finished with my attempt at blogging and went home. Left at 6:15 or so, stopped and got gas around 6:40. The PO was there! I thought surely I look different and he wouldn't recognize me (I was in my school work clothes, lots of color, not black like the restaurant) and my hair was down, and I didn't look like I'd been run over with a tank; oh no he did. I tried to avoid the eye contact but could totally tell he was looking at me (ya know the feeling). So I politely smiled and scooted out. Thank goodness he was talking to some other man in a bright yellowish green work vest or I might have had to be in an awkward position and wouldn't have known what to do. I think I would have said something like "gotta make dinner" or something.

BTW for anyone who's interested my waiting Mexican dinner was DELICIOUS!!!

Well that's it for yesterday, but I know I'll have something else to talk about for today...
