Back to work

Today wasn’t all that much more busy than yesterday.  I got up on time of course, since I had to go to work today.  For bfast I had topical yogurt with another super large banana.  After getting ready I made and packed my lunch: pimento and cheese with LC, a tangerine, pineapple, an Asian Pear, and carrots.

My CT stayed out and used her planned vacation time so I worked with Otsana again today.  There were only six kids.  For some strange reason I was unable to complete all the half notes during my thirty minutes time.  I got four out of the six completed.

The kids didn’t really do much today to take note of.  After my kids were gone, I played in the infant room. Then I headed over to the toddlers.  The AT went out and did her paperwork.  She got lucky and one of their kids left which made me able to be left alone with the six kids so she could stay out and work an extra hour.  These friends didn’t really do anything exceptional either.  The AT came in five minutes late and I clocked out eight minutes late which rounds up to a quarter of OT, however b/c we were closed yesterday I won’t get any OT this week!

I would like to remember that the LT in the baby room told me about the musical she’s in here in the next week or so and I want to remember about it and see if I can find someone to go with me to it.

When I got home DH and I just relaxed a little together before making dinner.  We had a fin for yourself kind of night.  I ate a black bean burger with the last f the mango avocado pico and Mexican style veggies.  Aaron had the rest of his left over burger and some broccoli and cheese rice.

I should have prepped my lunch for tomorrow, but was pooped from having to work today!  I’m not even sure what I plan on making but I hope it’s quickly put together.

High today: burger pico combo was super yummy.  I’ll have to have it again at some point.

Thanks for taking more time today…

Happy Memorial Day to all

Man what a nice boring day we had!  Today was Memorial Day and since I work at a preschool we wee closed.

I slept in for an hour, which was nice.  I’m sure I could have slept longer but I didn’t want to throw off the rest of the week and my own body’s schedule.

For breakfast I just had a super large banana.  I also started the fourth Sookie story.

I’d originally told DH I’d help him work on the house today but he didn’t stir and get out of bed till after ten thirty.  By this time I didn’t feel like doing squat.  We were supposed to at least go to Lowe’s and pick out some shades of blue for the den, but I was ridiculously unmotivated.

Instead we watched the last two episodes of Numb3rs in Ross’ room and spent quality time with Izzie.  Then we made lunch and watched the very last episode of X-Files.  Next we started our new show.

The beginning was super long!  Most shows season premiere lasts around two hours; this one was over two and a half.  We actually had to pause it in order to make dinner.  We made one of the first of many burger creations: The Italian.  It was a burger, topped with prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, tomato, and a garlic basil mayo on an onion ciabatta bun.  It was d-e-licious!  I don’t think it really needs the prosciutto, but Aaron says he wants more on it and he could really taste it.  To me it was just more of texture thing rather than taste.  Next time I’ll skip it.

There were so many things I wanted to do and get done today and not a single one did!  It was kind of nice, hope I don’t regret it later.

High today: a paid, non vacation, day off!

Thanks for taking a couple of seconds…

last day of catching for a while :'(

Man what a great day I’ve had!  I got up before five am in order to beat the sun up on the lake.  We got close.  Before heading out I made another microwave biscuit and guestimate it at 7 PPS with a nice hot cup of coffee (I remembered to nuke it to make it hot and stay warm longer).  I also made a really really nice tortilla roll to have out on the boat: spinach & herb tortilla, honey roasted turkey breast (sliced), vine ripened tomatoes, & left over roasted bell peppers.  I also packed more carrots.

I braved fishing with two poles today.  The second pole was a great big PITA!!!  It had a special tougher stronger line.  This is better to catch catfish, but it’s a heavier weighted line.  This means that the liver wasn’t heavy enough to get a good cast so I had to do this crazy pull the line out past my arms, swing the line, and release the pulled out as the bait flings forward.  I know reading this doesn’t make any sort of sense, but there’s really no way to better explaining.  If I knew how to work the darn video camera dad got us for Christmas last year I could post a video!

Speaking of camera we saw a coon’ out on the 23rd and he LOVED the chocolate covered donuts Wal Mart!  Dad tossed him three and he was just too freakin’ cute!

Back to the fishing….  I also learned (really relearned b/c I was taught last year) how to put a hook on the line.  I hope I remember next year.  It’s nice to know how to re-hook it myself so I don’t have to wait on the guys to be available.  We caught 16 today.  And I caught a large brim fish.  I was undecided as to whether I wanted to keep it or not but while Aaron was removing the hook he caused it to bleed out, which means it was technically dead, so we kept it.  I contributed more today, I caught four!  I didn’t catch the first, most, or biggest :’(.

Once we got back home dad looked over my retirement paperwork and helped me choose how to distribute my funds.

On the way home Aaron and I fantasized about his restaurant plans.  He actually started to take notes!  I really wish we had more income or other ways to gain financial funds to do a start up.  It’s a GREAT idea.

At home I found my b-day present from Ross: Bambi the new limited edition.

I also tried the new shower today.  Aaron and I showered together, nothing kinky, just made more sense: we both needed to shower, it saves the water pressure to do it in one, and I didn’t want to wait on him to shower, nor did I want to wait on him on me.  The shower head was nicer than I thought it would be.  I’ll admit it was okay, but definitely strange since there isn’t a door.  It also wasn’t that great if you had to stand out of the water, towards the back, while your partner does their business in the water.

For dinner I at a bowl of lettuce greens topped with carrots, bell peppers, sprouts, and our left over mango avocado pico with a lime dressing.  DH had a pizza.  Now we are watching our new show.  That’s it.

High today: catching more fish today than yesterday.

Thanks for listening again…

on the lake!!!

So today was the start of my second weekend fishing since Izzie got sick.  I still feel bad knowing she’s at home and probably needs us, but we’re not there.  Before heading out today I nuked my sausage bagel sandwich; guestimated at 7PPS.  I’d forgotten how yummy it was!  I also made a cup of coffee to go.  I didn’t last time and really wished I had.  The coffee got cold on me.  I only know this b/c sipped dad’s and his was much warmer.  It’s b/c he nukes his before heading out.  Tomorrow I plan on nuking mine too, but in a different glass (he does his in the plastic cup drinks it from!  I was a bit more prepared this time on the food front and made a simple sandwich roll of spinach & herb tortilla with ham and some carrots.

We made it out on the water right before/as the sun was rising!  Way to go us!  We caught 22 fish today.  I only caught 3.  Aaron caught the first!  If I had to pick which ‘special’ fish to catch it would be the first b/c no one can ‘take’ that bragging right from ya!  If I catch a big fish someone else can always catch a bigger one and the same for the most.  When we go crappie fishing he and I almost always compete to get the first.

While we were on the boat I was ‘bad’ and ate a few of the donuts dad got.  These are so addictive.  It’s the bakery ones that buy at grocery stores.  The little fried chocolate covered ones.  The first and only one, I ate so slow and savored.  When I gave Aaron his seconds he kept trying to get me to nibble his, but I was strong and held out!

Once we got back home I took dad’s new car and headed up town.  I went to the wine store first and bought a bottle of p. grigio by the Frei brothers.  It was 7.00.  I bought this one because the description said something about apples, floral, and citrus.  Well both apples and citrus pair nicely with pork and I didn’t want a red wine.  Then I headed to Wal Mart.  I got in and out and bought only what I needed.

Back at the house we relaxed till dinner.  For dinner we had grilled pork chops (blonde), mushrooms, bell peppers, those monster baked potatoes I got last night, and a side salad.  I topped the salad with my new nuts and Mike’s ‘nasty’ balsamic vinegar and the tomato juice and it was fab-u-lous!  The wine went superbly with the dinner.  Before dinner we all tried the new balsamic vinegar I bought at TJ’s and he loved it, there fore the old one is the ‘nasty’ one, it’s not bad, it just doesn’t taste to par for Mike.

After dinner I used dad’s laptop and watched Dear John on Netflix.  It was okay.  I really think the creator left out a ton of the story from the book.  Definitely glad I haven’t bought it.

High today: being out on the lake with family

Thank you for staying tuned in…

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that on hwy 79 Sally Lanes has posted a mobile candy shop!

TGIF

So today was the first day of my 29th year!  For breakfast I started it out with Kashi, the orginal, with bananas.  I ate over the serving, only b/c there was nine grams left in the bag and I didn’t want to put that back on the shelf.  So my bfast was 6PPS.  For lunch I packed a salad and several fruits for snacking.

At school I was actually able to do paperwork!  I got 5/6 of he way done with my summaries.  All I have left to do area a few parent concerns lines!  WOO HOO!!!  I should finish them early week and then start on the LPs that are due at the end of the week.

I did lose 30 minutes b/c my CT wasn’t there and that was dedicated to ‘planning time’ for us.  Instead I gave the teachers in the infant room a lunch break.  At one I took mine, then went back to the infants.  I left the infants at 3:00, as scheduled, and headed to the toddlers.  The toddlers were down in ration, there were only five children, so I was able to be left alone with em’.

While I was in there Ms. Annie, Bobby’s mom, stopped by to share her goodies and chat.  Today was their last day and she made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate filling and red velvet cake with white icing.  I’m super happy for her!  She and her hubby are rekindling and bought a house together in NC.

After work, at the house we prepped to head to Paris.  Before leaving Nashville we stopped at Costco.  Aaron forgot his wallet and I said we could just skip shopping, BUT his wallet also had our fishing licenses in them and that’s a necessary item for our weekend ahead of us.  So I stopped at the wine shop and just looked around and then went to the big ware house.  We sort of only bought the items that we had coupons for, except for bug spray.  It’s the first time I’ve ever bought bug spray and I hope it works.  It’s the Deep Woods stuff.

We also stopped at Wal Mart in Camden to get the few small things dad needed for the weekend.  However I could only get one of the three things needed.  Oh and while we were at Costco I saw that Doritos had a new flavor: Wasabi!  I tried to find some at Wal Mart and they didn’t have any ;’(.

On the way in we saw seven patrol cars, blue lights spinning, with people pulled over!  I know it’s a holiday weekend and all, but this is probably the most I’ve ever seen on the stretch!

We didn’t arrive til after ten, so I’m sorry if this post doesn’t make much sense.

High today: I remember to pick up carrots and cheese (which I’ve needed for several weeks now) at Costco!

Thanks for working through the messiness…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!

IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!!  I think that’s all I should type, but I’m sure in the days, weeks, months, years to come I’m going to wish I had more to say, b/c after all that’s what this blog is all about: me and how I live from day to day.

I knew we were going out to eat today so I was trying to keep the point consumtion down.  For breakfast I had cottage cheese with a huge serving of cantaloupe!  For lunch I packed my new favorite prepared tomato cucumber salad and a string cheese.  I only cheated a tid bit: a cookie, five goldfish, and a mini piece of chocolate bar.

The day was a little wild.  Six kids came today, one was absent and I’m not sure why.  Julia worked with me till two.  I wonder how she felt about the day and how it went?  She didn’t really give any otward signs for me to read.  Guess what?  I was able to complete all six daily notes while Julia was on lunch!  Isn’t that crazy?!?!  I’m on my own and still did all the notes.  I’d put money that my CT wouldn’t have been able to do that while I was out!  I was also able to post it on the net in time as well as my contact logs and still had a few minutes spare before having to be in the next room!

While I was in the big kids class I told them it was my birthday and the little girl who has the same middle name as me didn’t believe me and called me a liar!  I insisted she ask her teacher and after a little coercing she asked and found out I was telling the truth.  I didn’t have much patience for the kids during circle time and breezed through it.  We did do a game of hangmen and I chose clown fish as the word.  My smart kid in the room was too precious.  He tries to read words by sounding out the letters!  He tried so hard to read it out, but the ‘w’ threw him off!

When I got home I made a super quick batch of cake batter rice crispy treats before heading off for my birthday dinner at Allium.  I only made a half a batch, but more on that latter.  For dinner I had the plum roasted duck breast with butternut squash risotto and asparagus (the dish is served with carrots, but that was too much orange for me).  DH had the cocoa chili rubbed grouper with crawfish etoufee, pepper jack grits, and sautéed Swiss chard.  I LOVED my duck!  It was prepared perfectly; mouthwatering melting deliciousness.  The risotto was kind of boring, but the asparagus was perfect too.  It was al dente, which is my favorite way to eat veggies.  DH’s dinner was ‘ehh’.  The etoufee was dark, like brown mushroom gravy (instead of creamy reddish color like I’m used to).  I’d forgotten that it was served with grits (which I extremely dislike) and took a bite.  I thought it was mashed potatoes!

Afterwards we swung by his parent’s house and visited for a little while.  They got me a card and gave me a check!  That was a huge surprise.

Back at the house we started our new show!  And enjoyed our rice crispy treats!  They weren’t very ‘cake batter-y’, but they were very ‘toasted marshmallow-y’.  I was in such a hurry that I think I had the heat too high and it caramelized the marshmallow.  They were also way crisper, breaking, snapping like instead of chewy, gooey, sticky, and stringy like the ‘typical’ treat.  I only ate a very small piece and had an apple to fulfill the hunger craving.  I sliced the apple in the pan the treats were in and it made the apple taste like a candy/caramel coated apple!  Which gave me a recipe idea.

Well the day is over, and I’ve got another year under my belt.  Here’s to another memory filled happy one.

High today: dinner date with hubby.

Thanks for thinking about me on my special day…

keeping fingers crossed X

Tuesday 5/24/11
I woke up an hour early due to the storms here in TN.  I tried to go back to sleep but just couldn’t.  Instead of lay in bead and tossed and turned and listened until the alarm went off.  After showering and what not I ate my yummy bfast combo: strawberries with vanilla chai carbmaster yogurt.  I read my book until it was time to get ready.  I left the house early, as in right after I finished packing, b/c I assumed that traffic would be awful b/c of the storms.  The radio mentioned lots of trees being down and lights not working, but I didn’t have any trouble at all.  I actually ended up at work an hour early.

Of course I checked my emails and what not.  There weren’t any deals I wanted except for a possible food event.  However I didn’t buy it b/c I was unsure whether we could or would go to it, not to mention I think the quantity was only allowed to be one and I wanted one for me and Aaron.

Once I clocked in I started updating goal sheets in order to type my summaries.  I didn’t get too far at all!  I was in the classroom b/4 the kids arrived and once they started coming in it was CRAZY!!!  Today was our new guys third day and his mom came in with lots of commotion and questions.  She hung out for a while and helped him do his art.  Then another kid came in late and his mom hung out for a while.  Also the OT talked to the first mom, the DR came in and talked to the second mom, and our HR came in and talked to someone.  So that’s seven kids, seven adults, and one extra child (a sister of one of the kids) all in a room about the size of an average kitchen!  Man that was obnoxious!

Our morning went well and it was quick.  We had to start at square one with our little guy who threw up as a behavior problem.  We had to let him have his paci all day!  However we found out today that his last day will either be this Thursday or next Tuesday so it’s not a big deal.

Our newest kid with Autism did amazing all day.  He sat for circle time, almost the entire time.  He also made great eye contact to get physical affection from me.  This is a super huge deal b/c my CT had him in her lap and he got out of hers to come to me!

The behavior kid who is leaving had a great lunch period.  He sat down and was happy and ate some bites!  It’s been a while since he’s participated during lunch.

All the kids napped during lunch time so I was able to finish my notes.  I was also able to get the body and legs cut for our spider art for the next two days.

During our ‘paperwork time’, which was nipped by fifteen minutes due to a late parent pick up, our DR came in and talked to us.  We found out that the little girl on my case on M/W who is working on eating food, will no longer be in our room starting mid June (or July, I can’t really remember the date).  She’s going to the full time side since her mom got a new job as a principal at another school (instead of being a teacher).  I also found out the Otsana is going to be working with me the next three days while my CT is on vacation.  Let’s keep our fingers crossed and all hope up that we make it through the days.

I got to play in the baby room until I left at a quarter or so after five!  I had such a great time.  While I was in there I learned something new about these crazy bugs that are attacking everyone here in the south.  The males are the only ones that make the noise, they can get louder than a lawn more (there some techno term that I can’t remember), and the noise doesn’t come from their wings or legs; it comes from a pocket inside behind what we would think are the ears and when air passes through that’s what we are hearing.  Cool, huh?!?!?!  The room that I usually go into, toddlers, was actually in ration at four thirty when my CT left, which means the AT in the room could be by herself with the five (or six) children.  However one of the kids has a seizure disorder and he had a large one today.  Luckily enough it didn’t last too long and she didn’t have to administer diastat.

After work I stopped at TJ’s and bought the new pb I’ve been putting off to taste b/c I wanted the other one.  I also bought this really neat frozen cube cilantro and can’t wait to try it in our fish tacos tomorrow.  And I got a bottle of ten year aged balsamic vinegar for my uncle.  I went there to find a few items that we needed but it was a no go.

Instead I went to Kroger’s b/c I knew they had a great deal on mangos.  However once I got there their prices on the other items I wanted were awful.  So instead I took their flyer with me to Wal Mart to buy everything there.

At Wal Mart I was shocked to discover that they already had a price match for the mangos and tomatoes I wanted to pick up.  They also had a good deal on avocados (and upon check out, after I got home, I noticed the lady only charged me for one avocado when I bough three).  I also picked up some much needed apple cider vinegar to try to get rid of our fruit gnats and some raspberry balsamic vinegar.  I also got marshmallows, cereal, cake mix, and chocolate morsels to make the cake batter items for my birthday I want to have!  In addition they had their berries on sale and I got a package of raspberries and blueberries.  I went in with a hand held basket and it was full to the top with everything I’d picked up.  Sure I got a few necessities but I was shocked that I filled the basket.  I usually only have a few items in it.

By the time I finished shopping and got in the car to go home it was after seven.  And of course everyone that knows me knows that’s not the way I like to ‘roll’.  I prefer to have my dinner fixed and eaten by seven!  We had grilled pork chops, onions, mushrooms, and zucchini.  I picked up a microwave potato for DH and had a few bites of it.  While eating my dinner I made the marinade for our fish for tomorrow nights dinner.  I didn’t get to make the mango avocado pico for the dinner and had planned on doing it after our show was over the last episode of 24 EVER) but it’s almost ten and I’m thinking I’m going to ask DH to do it tomorrow.  I hope he will and do it the tasty way.

I also haven’t gotten to make lunch yet, but I think it’s going to be easy.  I’m thinking the new pb with celery, some carrots, a mixed berry cup, an Asian pear, and mandarin oranges.  Reading this it looks like I need more protein (the pb is one) and/or some carbs.  However I plan on having a filling breakfast as well as a filling dinner.  I don’t have any extra foods planned but I’m sure I’ll find something to fill the void of points.

In the morning I need to find a picture resembling the tacos I’m going to make and post it.  I hope they turn out yummy!

High today: cilantro ice cube thingies if they turn out tasty.

Thanks for taking time to read a bunch of nothing…

tranquil beginning

So today was a pretty easy Monday.  I woke up on time and got to work with an hour to spare!  For breakfast I had a bowl of Kashi Go Lean crunch (a partial serving for 4PPS) with milk and a banana totaling 5PPS.  While eating I paid the bills and finished a chapter of Sookie.

For lunch I made an open face bologna sandwich (2PPS) with, grapes, mandarin oranges, and a Braeburn.  I didn’t eat the apple, but I did eat everything else.

As I mentioned a moment ago I had plenty of time to spare.  I left the house early thinking I would stop and get gas as well as go to Trader Jo’s, but the whether was super nasty so I just went to the library and dropped off my book.  This is the only reason why I got there so early.  Oh yeah, I guess I should mention the reason I went to TJ’s is b/c I went to order some PB2 off the net yesterday but it was on back order.  I’ve really been craving pb&j sandwiches and TJ’s has the second lowest PP peanut butter to buy instantly (instead of ordering off the net and waiting for it to ship and arrive).

So I checked my email and read the few blogs that posted.  I also went to groupon’s site and noticed they had the same deal for a zipline tour that I really wanted to buy yesterday that was sold out.  However this deal was five dollars cheaper and had a lower limit on how many a person could buy.  I bought two, one for myself and one as a gift for Aaron.  However I f’d up somehow and they will probably both have Aaron’s name on them.  I tried to contact the company in hopes they would fix it for me.  I’d like to use it as an anniversary trip unless we could get a group together to go.

We only had four kids today, four easy ones!  So the day was pretty smooth.  My little girl who still eats baby food tried a new one that mom brought in.  She liked it and actually had a preference to take a few bites over her meat that she’s used to!  This afternoon for snack we made ‘dirt pudding’.  The kids on today’s shift were a little weary about it.  The little girl I was just talking about ate four scoops of chocolate pudding.  I tried to get her to eat the cream out of the middle of the Oreo cookies, but she wasn’t excited about it at all.

We got an email today from Otsana reminding us about turning in LP’s for next month, our summaries, and a LP for next week since some of us, our room included, forgot to turn one in.  That’s what happens when you’re used to a four week month and May was five weeks.  So during my small time btwn class and the next room and created a LP for next week.  I also went to the room and tried to reorganize our cabinet that’s got all of our paperwork info in it.  I need 9.5 hours training before the end of June and am scrambling to find something.  I’ve got a few journal articles to read and turn in and a couple of questions about our child specific trainings.  I’m hoping these last two bits will cover the remaining hours I need.

I also called Grand Incentives today about our ‘free’ vacation for three days and two nights.  We tried to book last year but were rejected due to the dates we wanted.  The locations we picked last time weren’t available as well as our check in days weren’t offered.  This time when we applied we got rejected again due to check in dates.  I called the company today and found out that all locations except for places in Florida require a Sunday – Wednesday check in.  I managed to obtain an extension till December 31st.  I also found out that we can fill out a request six months in advance now instead of four.  This is going to be soooooo helpful!  So now I need to find all my notes on the locations and when it’s a good time to visit them.

I almost had to stay and work a little late and get OT, but a parent picked their kid up at 4:58 so I got to leave at my scheduled time!

Aaron went and applied for a few jobs today.  Keeping our fingers crossed that he gets one.

We sat down and figured out how to make our fish tacos later this week.  I won’t have a chance to write about it b/c we plan to have it on WW.  I got the recipe from a Publix free catalogue/magazine and can’t wait!

We also got planned and got out our dinner for tomorrow night.  It’s so nice to have a plan, especially when it’s an easy one!

Tonight for dinner we fended for ourselves.  I had the last tidbit of venison Mexican, a slice of ham, a serving of veggies with chili pepper and soy sauce, and a slice of pineapple upside down cake.  It’s a good think I ate the cake today I don’t know how much longer it would last.

Also I had an idea on a way to tweak the birthday cake rice crispy treat I got off the net: substitute butterscotch pudding for the cake batter powder!  I could also do this with the bark and chex mix recipes I’ve gotten the last couple of days.  YUMMY!!!

High today: having a plan.

Thanks for hanging in there…

sunning Sunday

So today was another laid back day.  I got up super early again in order to get out on the lake.  Before heading out I made a good for me protein and fiber filled bfast of an English muffin one ‘scrambled’ egg and a piece of cheese.  I also had enough time to place a few pieces of ham on a couple of slices bread for lunch.  While we were out on the boat I only ate two pb crackers!

Dad caught the first fish, Aaron caught the most and biggest, and I only caught a measly one fish.  We only caught eight total.  We were only on the lake until elevenish.  We left before a storm hit and it was super bumpy getting off!  We were all so wet you would have thought we rode on a water ride at a theme park.  Dad was nice enough to save Okie and stray kitty a few scraps of fish and I talked Aaron into saving the egg sacks four our kitties.

When we got back to the house everyone just relaxed.  Dad napped and Aaron and I played on the net.  I managed to view all m back dated blogs and looked at all the coupon sites I’ve wanted to check out.  There were several coupons and deals I wanted to buy but couldn’t afford to get them all.

For dinner we had home made roast beef sandwiches.  They were GREAT!!  Mike buttered and toasted some Wal Mart bakery Kaiser rolls.  He put a slice of Swiss on one half and a slice of provolone on the other half.  Then he made au jus for us to dip and warm the roast beef in.  In addition he sautéed mushrooms in Madera and onions.  Oh man, what a tasty melt in your mouth delicious sandwich, accompanied by a pickle spear and some wavy lays.

We left a little while later and came home.  Once we got back not too much happened.  We settled in and watched a couple episodes of 24.

High today: that roast beef sandwich, which we will be recreating!

Thanks for taking a couple of seconds today…

long time no fish

Today was much better than yesterday, to be expected since I’m at dad’s!  I woke up early-ish; before the hubby and the sun rose.  I got up and dressed for fishing.

We didn’t stop by anywhere to get real food and I forgot to stop at Wal Mart last night so I ended up eating a bunch of junk food on the boat: pb and crackers, a packages of nuts, and a snickers.  The point value here is around 20!

We stayed on the lake until 2 and then headed off to clean em’.  We caught a total of 15, dad got nine (as well as the first and the most), I got four (the BSN, hence the snickers’ bar ; )), and DH got two.  My big fish was five and half pounds!  I also caught a turtle and tried to keep it to be a classroom pet, but dad said it’s a TN law that a persons not allowed and they are some of the germiest critters anyways.  While finished I read a good part of my Sookie number two book and actually finished it once we got home!

Back at the house I sat outside with Okie (aka Orange Kitty) and read the book.  He surprised me by letting me rub his belly a bunch.  I also did something today that I’ve never done before: remove a blood sucking tick!  EEWWW it weird’s me out to touch them.  I ended up using a piece of grass to hold the little bugger and pull it out.

For dinner we had an amazing spread of jumbo grilled shrimp, baked potatoes, French bread, and a salad.  The salad was really yummy; it was mixed greens with tomatoes, avocado’s, a sprinkle of cheese, and I used tarragon vinegar.  For dessert I had an apple and then a little later I munched on honey nut shredded wheat.

After dinner I logged online and tried to finish catching up on all the back logged foodgawker posts, I’m still working on them.

I’m hoping that we stop and get a real breakfast in the morning.  I’m also thinking I’m going to try to pack more solid food for lunch other than eating crackers and candy bars.

Oh yeah I did get a little bit of sun on the outside of my legs and arms!!  I have to remember tomorrow to apply the sunscreen so I don’t get poisoned.  At some point tonight I scratched the burn and thought ‘deal with the burn/pain b/c that’s what it supposedly feels like to get a tattoo’.  I couldn’t :’(   I had to wipe it with water dew from my glass.

That’s all from my short relaxed kinda day.

High today: BSF and finished book two.

Thanks for taking a couple of moments this weekend…

i can not say this any better TGIF!!!

Man what a day!  If today had have been a Monday I would’ve insisted the world go back to bed and start over.  I’m thankful that the awfulness happened at the end of the week especially since I had plans to have a wonderfully relaxing weekend on the lake with my DH and dad.

To start the crappy end of the week off I left my phone in the kitchen on our ‘bar’ fridge, the importance of this is b/c my phone is my wake-up-get-out-of-bed-right-now alarm.  Do you know what that means?  That means that this chick did not have an alarm to get up to!  Of course I got up late, however managed to get to work on time.  I showered like that little speedy mouse we grew up, Speedy Gonzalez (?).  Afterwards I went to the kitchen to make and pack my lunch (another tasty wrap in my new wraps with sprouts minus the tomatoes (2PPS) and a bunch of fruits with a side of carrots (the end of the carrots I might add).  Then I headed to the bathroom to brush teeth and then off to get dressed.  Did you notice that I didn’t mention a breakfast or getting to read my book?  Well that would be b/c I didn’t get to do either!  I managed to head out of the house btwn 7:20 and 7:30.

I arrived to work with about eight minutes to spare.  As I’m trying to check my email Otsana so kindly informs me that we had two teachers called out and that my CT and I would be in classrooms all day.  Not a super huge deal, but I want to remember this when we get asked why we don’t have paperwork done – we did not have a chance to do it at all!

So I spent my whole day with the eldest children in the center.  Of course there were ups and downs as always.  The strangest moment was when one of the smartest, man this is hard to describe without naming names, busiest, intriguing children got upset after nap.  He didn’t go to sleep until I got back from lunch and meeting (more on that too) which was around one.  Well when it was time to wake up he did not want to get off his mat.  I gave him around ten minutes to get up and put his sheets away but he didn’t do it, so I did it for him.  Well he started crying b/c he didn’t want to get up and I ignored it b/c he knows that he has to get up.  His classmates started making fun of him and he cried the entire snack time and part of circle time.  When I tried to read the book I literally couldn’t talk over him so I had him come up front and tell me what was wrong.  He was for really crying!  He had real tears and wanted his mommy and wanted me to hold him!  This is not normal at all.  My first thought was that he was feeling bad, but he finally calmed down to tell me that he was upset b/c nobody liked him.
“Why would you think that?”
“B/c everyone was making fun of me and calling me names.”
So I talked to his classmates and everyone apologized as a group and we went about our day.  I just thought it was a very interesting interaction.  I hope I remember this moment.

Back to the ‘meeting’.  Otsana informed my at some point early during the day that I would take my lunch at noon and then go straight into my retirement fund meeting and come back.  She specifically stated the importance of everything being on time and there was no lee way for lateness.  However at noon the person who was supposed to relieve me didn’t show up.  She was two minutes late.  I ‘lost’ those two minutes (not huge I know) of my lunch break and headed to my meeting.  Well the person who was in her meeting went over, which of course put me behind.  While I was in my meeting another teacher came in and that took a few minutes away from me.  Of course I had lots of questions b/c I just don’t understand this kind of stuff and I definitely don’t want to sign papers and screw myself when I’m seventy.  Well my meeting ending a couple of minutes till one and I thought I did really good getting my meeting in my allotted time.  Not two minutes after I get back in the room Otsana comes to me with her northern attitude and wants to know what happened.  I was so CONFUSED; I thought I did exactly what I was supposed to do.  However I was only supposed to be in the meeting for fifteen minutes so the next person could have theirs.  I honestly didn’t know that.  I didn’t read the schedule to see who was next or what time they were supposed to go.  I just knew that I had to be there AT 12:30 and not a minute later!  Well I told her about the delay and interruption and then she got feisty about me and wanted to know why it took me thirty minutes to have my meeting.  Boy she just didn’t understand the concept of outside factors contributing to the error of my ways.  ERRR!!!

While the kids slept I posted a statement on FB about needing some help with LP’s.  I realized yesterday that I should have been looking for our second theme ideas but it totally lapsed my mind.  Anyways I posted and my old LT text me.  We exchanged a few msgs and of course she brought up that it was strange that I was doing LP’s.  I told her I got a promotion and now I get to participate in them.  Then she texted me back something along the lines of ‘you could have always done it before but chose not too’.  Of course I didn’t want to say what I was really thinking, I can’t actually remember what I said since I had to sensor myself, but I wanted to tell her ‘hell no I refused to do lesson plans b/c you got paid more than me and didn’t do half, no a third, or even better a fourth of what I did in the room, why on earth would I take on the mere fraction of work that you did too?’ but I didn’t I was polite.  She was nice enough to offer assistance by sharing her books or ideas from her current school.  We’ll see how that goes.

Back to the day…  Since I get to leave early on Friday’s I got to hang out with the eldest kids till it was time to go.  This means that I actually got to play outside!  It’s such a nice change from hanging out in the cold room with the whiny crying pampered toddlers!  I’m grateful.  It was fun to hang out with the other three teachers for a change too.

When I got home I was super excited to see all the progress the DH did on the den.  He managed to put in those monstrosities of drywall sheets by himself and now the den has walls all they way around (at least I think so, the third wall on the back of bathroom no 2 might not be done, but I’m not a 100%).  Anyways we did our necessary tasks and headed here (to Paris).  I need to mention here that for dinner I had chocolate PB2 and banana sandwich (3PPS).  It was okay.  I’ve been waiting to try the chocolate version before ordering in case I wanted a combo pack, but I think I’m going to get the for pack of plain pb and just add some cocoa powder to it.

We stopped at Costco on the way out of Nashville and got dad his cheese and hotdogs as well as my vitamins.  While we were there they had an awesome deal on patio furniture cushions.  I found ones my mom would love but they were short a set.  She needs a bench cushion and two chair ones.  The only had one chair one.  ERR!!!  Maybe next time!  At the check out line I realized that I forgot to pick up my LC cheese and carrots!  Bummer, that means I still don’t get to have pimento and cheese this week, not to mention I’m not sure what I’m going to do about my daily veggie snack (eekk).

While driving we (DH and I) talked more about him applying for the train job and the possibility of creating a family.  I’ve been unsupportive of the idea as mentioned in this post, but he made a nice argument and now I’m kind of unsure how I feel.  I told him to go ahead and apply that we’d cross the bridge when necessary.  I did however tell him that I sometimes wish I had a therapist to talk to and he wanted to know why.  Of course my answer was that there are something I’m not comfortable telling him and then he wanted to know more.  I told him some of my largest fears (if he gets this job and we have kids, especially young ones, I don’t know if I’d be happy all alone, coming from a divorced family and knowing my personality and all, I don’t know if I can do it on my own; etcetera etcetera).  At this point he informs me that he knows that and understands and would be more than happy to take a job at Mickey D’s just to have a job and he could be at home with me to help with all the necessary things needed if that would make me happy.  And of course now I feel like an ass!  He’s being so considerate and I’m thinking about the half empty cup.  He finally calmed me down when he said the main reason he wanted to apply for the job was b/c of the pay.  It starts out double what I’m making right now!  His thought is that if he works the crappy shifts now then if we do have children he’ll be able to be there with us at night.  And even if it is he night shift it might be from nine p.m. to five a.m. and I wouldn’t necessarily need him there and we could still spend evenings together.  Also if he did have that schedule and he was at home during the day and if we did have kids we wouldn’t have to pay for a full day’s worth of child’s care b/c he could take care of them till I got off.  Then we proceeded to talk about beliefs and ideals, but I won’t get into that here, b/c I’m sure we’ll talk about it all over again and again.

We got here at a decent hour and dad was still up.  Mike had just gone to bed so he got back up and greeted us.  I gave dad all the goodies I brought him and he tried one my cookies and liked em’.  He asked who made them!?!  Can you believe that, of course I made them, not to mention that I told him earlier during the week that I made them!

Well that’s it really, other than I made a large dent in the second Sookie book while riding here!

High today: coming ‘home’ to dad’s

Thanks for hanging in there…

in the name of charity

Sometimes when I don’t get to post on Wednesday’s I feel like I’m super behind since I’ve been entering everyday for the last month and a half or so.  We ate at the Melting Pot last night for David’s birthday and I was way more impressed last night than the first time we went there for his birthday a couple of years back.  This was the second time I’ve been there.  David and I did the ‘Big Night Out” as a couple and it was GREAT.  The restaurant has a special menial that changes every six months or so and the most current one is a Caribbean Latin fusion spiced dinner.  I loved the chimmichuri steak and chicken pieces!  I made a huge pig of myself and ate almost both of the whole slices of cheesecake they serve.  David ate a couple bites of the plate that we shared and Aaron and his mom didn’t eat any of theirs so I did.  Our dessert fondues were bananas foster and tipsy turtle (chocolate with nuts).  I really liked the cheesecake with a little bit of both topped with extra pecans.

Anyways that was yesterday and this entry is supposed to be an entry for today, Thursday.  I woke up and was still full!  All I had for breakfast was a c up of chocolate milk and a banana (the banana was much yummier than the one I had to put in a bag to ripen).  I read a little bit of Sookie’s story and then headed off.

I’d made my lunch Tuesday night b/c I knew I wouldn’t want to do it when we got home last night (which was after ten btw).  So all I had to do was pack them in the box.  I stopped and got gas, but can’t remember what it ran me, good thing I kept the receipt.

When I got to work I checked my emails, oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I bout a groupon for the Thai place over near Aaron’s parents house (two actually, one for me and one for Aaron).  Nothing too much worth while.  Living social escapes is offering a five day stay at a cabin/b&b place, but it’s a week day stay only.

I checked a few of the blogs and one of my favs announced a new food festival I’d really like to attend on Saturday June 4th.  Aaron said he wouldn’t mind going to it with me!  Now I need to decide if I want to purchase tickets there; 15.00 for 12 or advance/online 50.00 for 50.

Before starting the day my CT showed me that our new kid’s mom brought in sunscreen and we got doctor’s orders faxed over.  This caused a little frustration b/c our class will not go out in the afternoons, which is the only time we put it on the kids.  However the DR told the parent’s we would go outside and she needed to get it.  The only reason it frustrates me is b/c I’m the only one who keeps up with the med logs and does all the necessary filing and what not for them.  It just sucks b/c I’m going to have to record NN (not needed) everyday b/c DR made a mistake and doesn’t want to cause upset to the family.

Both my CT and I had migraines today; hers’ was a bit more severe.  She was sensitive to smell all day.

We only had five kids for the first part of the day and the sixth one showed up a few minutes before lunch time.  Of course he was a little of whack b/c of his, but we made it through the day.  Our new guy that started on Tuesday napped again today and I was able to finish my daily notes as well as post them online!

After the kids left I got a small head start on tomorrows beginning paperwork (turning n sign in/out and flow sheets_.

Next I went to the big kid’s class and found out that one of my old guys last day was today.  I knew he and his brother was leaving, but I thought it was tomorrow.  I got a great hug from the big brother and the little one snubbed me!  As I was leaving I saw their mom and she was already in tears.  I stopped and talked to her for a little bit before heading out.

Before leaving I played in the toddlers and felt a little bit more comfortable with the AT in the room.  She actually let me open up a bit about my feelings/opinions about working with CT.  She also told me a few things I wouldn’t have thought she would.  It’s one of those things that I’ve got to be careful with though b/c one can never know who to trust.
I called Aaron as I got in the car, but he didn’t’ answer.  He returned m call a few minutes later and had just gotten out of the shower.  YAY for him since we had plans to be somewhere!  We went to Generous Helpings and it was great.  I’m not going to go into details about all the goodies there were, but Fido was there with their amazing r rated chocolate cupcakes!  I also really enjoyed their beef sandwiches, Local Taco’s beef taco, Mad Platters BBQ, Amerigo’s mushroom pasta and tomato mozzarella salad with basil avocado vinaigrette, Tayst (I think) chicken and sweet potato biscuits, Sweet 16’s macaroons, and Pied Piper creamery’s ice cream!  Aaron really enjoyed NSCC culinary institute’s shrimp and grits.

As we were finishing Aaron kept talking about how stuffed he was.  It tickled me so!  I knew going in that he didn’t think he was going to get a full belly from tastes, but oh he did.  He kept moaning and groaning and belching and displaying all the super full belly signs.  When we got home he wanted to lay straight in bed versus on the couch in the living rooms.

Looking forward to the food festival!

High today: dinner date with the hubby!

Thanks for listening…
