long time no see

So today was an alright day.  I woke up and lay in bed for a few.  Then I got up and showered.  While I was in the shower DH actually got up and headed out for the day.  He had a bro date hiking with Colin out in Mt. Juliet area.

After showering I went and lay back in bed with Izzie.  She and I got some quality time together.  She’s doing much better.  Overall she’s been semi active.  She’s had a desire for food again, plays/wags her tail in greeting, and barks at outside noises again.  She’s still having trouble jumping up on the bed.

So we lay there together for a little bit while I played on the net.  Around noon I got hungry, went to the kitchen and had a PB2 and jelly sandwich.  I really like the new bread I bought for Izzie.  I’ve eaten it a few times with bologna and it’s so soft.  With the PBJ sandwich it seemed to absorb the stuff and was even softer.  I had it with carrots instead of chips.  When I got up to make the sandwich Ross was outside so I asked if Izzie could hang out; he was okay with it.

After eating I went and lay outside for an hour or so.  I took Izzie out with me and read a little of my book.  It was so darn sunny out I had to go back inside and get my sunglasses.  Izzie went back in with me and drank lots of water.  When we went back outside she went into the shade behind the patio chair instead of out in the sun.  I figured she was hot and let her back in the house.

After Aaron came home, we went back in and talked about his hike.  The first two places were flooded so he had to drive the rest of the way out to Lebanon and hiked at Cedars St. Park.

Before laying out I txted Ashley about going to her place, but she couldn’t get together till around 2.  After being inside for a few minutes she finally txted me and said she was up and ready.  I told her I’d be a little and then she told me she had to leave by 3, it was almost 2:15 at this point.  So I jumped up, threw some clothes on, and headed over to her place.  She showed me all her stuff she’s bought so far for their June 4th wedding.  Her theme is light blue and black.  She’s getting married at a church and having the reception there.  Aaron and I are the only non family members she’s invited, which makes me feel a little strange.  The only reason why is b/c she and I haven’t talked much since our wedding; maybe just a handful of times.  She bought the majority of her stuff at David’s Bridal and hobby lobby.  She kept saying how she’s spent too much money so far and still has things she needs.  I didn’t have the heart to tell her that it’s cost that much b/c she bought it all a bridal place.  She got a credit card and is going to pay it off over time versus paying as she goes.  Her flower girl baskets are adorable!  And she bought lots of monogrammed/logo items.  Too cute!  Can’t wait till June.  After I left she text me and mentioned getting together just in general.

Then we went to the grocery to get stuff to use my coupons before they expired.  Nothing super special just every day to day stuff.  Back at home I point labeled and put away stuff.  Oh yeah, I did find some delicious red seedless grapes for 1.20 a pound.  All the other grapes were 2.00 just like at the FM.  RIDICULOUS!  We also got same fat ham steaks on sale for 2.39 a lb.; we plan on using em’ for salads and breakfast/biscuit meals.

I had ribs for dinner (leftovers), a tangerine (bought those too while we were out), and new Boston crème pie pudding.  Point wise I guess did pretty good today.  I’m not going to bother tallying it, just assume it’s good.  We finished CSI season from Netflix.  I DO NOT like the way it ended.  An awful cliff hanger and I have no idea when the next season will release.

High today: getting together with Ashley and finding supper yummy cheap grapes!

Thanks for taking the time…

TGIF

I had a pretty decent night sleep considering I didn’t go to bed till around midnight.  I spent the evening looking at swt. potato recipes!  I woke up on time, versus early, which is super exciting.  For breakfast I had my left over cut cantaloupe with cottage cheese (2PPS).  I tried eating some of the cottage cheese on its own and it’s just not as good as my dads (he buys the full fat kind by purity).  I’m almost thinking that it’s going to have to be one of those items I splurge on point wise.

I got to school about fifteen minutes before I had to clock in, just enough time to check and respond to emails. Oh, BTW, as I was pulling into the drive at school my CT text me to let me know that she was in the ER.  I had mixed feelings about this.  I was worried first, and then dumfounded (I guess that’s a good description?).  I was worried and wanted to make sure it was her that was actually in the ER versus her just visiting or helping someone in the ER.  I texted her in response but didn’t hear back from her, so I waited fifteen minutes or so and gave her a call.  To my unsurprise (is this a real word?) it was her. This is when I found out she was waiting for tests to be run, which meant she’d been waiting for almost two hours by now to be tested!  She had been there since six am or so and was waiting to have testing done.  She woke up in the middle of the night with extreme stomach pain and it wouldn’t go away.  I finally talked to her around noon or so and she was done testing.  The dr.’s told her it was either a blood clot passing or something more serious that she’s never had before.  They gave her some pain killers and she went home to pass out.  I wonder if she’ll be in Monday or not?  I feel kinda bad for the girl; she’s almost always got something going on internally.  So strange to me considering she didn’t mention any thing at all yesterday or the last few days.  I wondered if it had anything to do with her past health testing that was done on our in-service day the second Friday of March.

Anyways, her being at the ER doesn’t change my tasks at hand.  I clocked in and put away the attendance sheets, made more copies, and put new copies in folder.  I started a load of laundry and then got to work on the training we’ve all been working on this week.  I completed all three quizzes around 10:30 or so.  I made two 100’s and one 90.  I was a bit peeved about the 90.  I read the answer and thought I put true but for some crazy reason clicked false and got it wrong.  Once I was done with the trainings I got to work on my summaries.  I put in all the data for eight kids and finished typing three of them.  I managed to get all this done while stopping and taking at least twenty plus minutes to talk to Otsana about non work related things.  At 11:30 I had to break the infants until 1 and then take my lunch.  It was a good thing I had just finished drinking a cup of coffee when she told me I had to go to the baby room in ten minutes or I don’t know if I could have waited that long to eat.

I was a bit confused about why I had to break them so long.  Most teachers get thirty minute lunches, two teachers equals one hour so I should have been done by 12:30.  I know the assistant in there gets forty five b/c of the time she works (over eight hours) and the fact she has to pump, but she was given an hour today.  I’m not complaining or anything, just curious.  While in the baby room I had a nice time.  The fussy britches in the room was actually in a good mood today and played with me instead of screaming her head off.

Afterwards I had to go to the toddlers (as usual).  The AD told me I was to be in there for three hours and the two teachers were supposed to ‘hash the time out btwn them’.  However the LT took the whole time, which isn’t really all the surprising, she usually does.  Plus side of being in there today: I got to eat two cupcakes from Harris Teeter.  I had the chocolate one first.  It was GREAT!  The icing was super decadent and could have been a treat on its own.  I ate the white/vanilla one a little later.  I’ve only had it once before and I’m pretty sure that I mentioned how unspectacular it was.  I told myself the only reason why it wasn’t any count was b/c it was an ‘older’ (time wise) cupcake and that this one should be better b/c it was a bit fresher.  Nope it was still uninviting.  At least now I know that the HT doesn’t serve good white cupcakes but they do have a delicious super satisfying chocolate one.  I also had a spoonful of ‘dirt pudding/cake’ which is always yummy.  I also ate my orange at 4:00 so I could get closer to my fruit/veggie quota today.

As I was clocking out I noticed that we have a mandatory meeting for the 10th of May.  THIS SUCKS!  That’s also my book club meeting night and I was really looking forward to this one.  I’m hoping the meeting ends quickly so that I can still attend.

At home I saw the amazing job the DH did on the bathroom.  He got the sink and toilet put in today.  OMG it looks like a real bathroom.  All he’s got to do is a few minor details (all week long).  Our friend Ashley M. arrived for our group night of tasting and shopping at the NFM.  While waiting on DH and roomie to finish getting ready I trimmed my nails (which cut my own knuckle btw while I was peeling the orange earlier and that’s the only reason why I mentioned this mundane task).

We had a great time at the NFM.  Ashley got apples for 1.50 p lb, a bunch of onions for 1.00, bananas for around .60 a lb or so.  I got an eggplant for 2.00!  I was so excited!  I was really looking for pine nuts, Mexican cheese, and cucumbers.  For some strange reason cucumbers are averaging btwn .75 and 1.00 a piece right now.  Of course they are, b/c I’m craving them!  While we were there I saw some amazing jams/jellies that we are going to have to invest in after we consume the rest of our jars here at home.  They have a cantaloupe, F(fig)R(rhubarb or raspberry can’t really remember)O(orange)G(ginger) – I think that’s the correct fruits, boysenberry, and several other obscure kinds for 4.00 for an average sized mason jar (not the size I did last fall, but one size bigger).  I sampled lots and lots of cheese and a handful of baked goods.  I also almost got interviewed to maybe possibly be on a local network PBS show.  I chickened out b/c I wasn’t too sure about what was going on.

I was shocked to discover that most of the items there were from Florida, not local.  I know in my head it’s too early to have produce here, but wasn’t sure I was expecting it to be shipped in.  It was sort of kinda like a grocery store with a discount, no sales tax, just a flat rate.  I really wanted to get some tomatoes and grapes.  The tomatoes were only 2.00 a lb, but I didn’t really need any, they just were beautifully red and the grapes were a bit high, even though they were super juicy and sweet.  At least now I know that grapes from FL are good this time a year.

We also some plants for really cheap and for some strange reason Aaron didn’t want to but them.  He told me but was so absorbed in my wine, the crazy root looking item, and the cheese table.  Not to mention the lady who was singing.  Aaron said that I walked through her performance but I could have sworn I walked on the side, basically around it.  Where else was I supposed to walk?

After we left there we went to the Mexican place by his parents but there was a line, a LOOOOOONG one, and opted to drive down the road.  We found another one a ways done called Tres Margarita.  They had two for one on the rocks, but I didn’t partake.  For dinner I had the chimichanga ala carte.  It was alright.  The tortilla wasn’t crispy as I like, but had a good flavor, was a decent price, and a decent size.  Ashley ordered the burrito supreme something and it was a monster of a burrito.  It looked like something Aaron would make at home.  The salsa wasn’t that great either it was kinda ketchupy.  But it totally satisfied the Mexican food craving better than Taco Bell would have.

I’m really looking forward to getting together with Ashley S. to check out her wedding stuff.  She texted me earlier this week and asked if I wanted to come over sometime.  I jumped on the opportunity considering she’s getting married in one month and three days.  This way if for some strange reason she asks for help it’s not too late.  We also got their invitation in the mail today.  It was pretty.  However there wasn’t an RSVP card included, I’m assuming its b/c I rsvp’d on FB, but I wonder if other people got one.  I’m so curious about it all: how many people, what’s the theme, where’s the reception, what it’s going to be like, the flowers, and many other things.

High today: NFM, so much fun!  I can’t wait to go again.  Ashley M. said she’d make it a regular thing to go with me (not every weekend, but regular).

Thanks for taking time out for me…

tiresome day

Today was a mind spastic kinda day for me.  I got up and felt kinda wired.  I decided to eat oatmeal with bananas and blueberries for breakfast.  All the rain has put a bit of a chill in the air and it sounded like it might be a complimentary meal.

I decided to have my leftover salad from Yolo’s for lunch and added some fresh strawberries to it.  I also prepared carrots, cantaloupe, and an orange for the day.  Not only did I have a warm comfy bowl of oatmeal but I made hot coffee to have on the way to work.

Once at work I did the usual of checking emails and what not.  Oh yeah, on the way to work I tried to win Train and Maroon 5 tickets but wasn’t successful.  I’m going to try again tomorrow.  I have to remember that I have to call right at 7:45.  I tried to text and win today but it was a PITA.  Tomorrow I’m going to call the number.

I clocked in at my regular time and started working on that stupid training again.  Yesterday I told the DR that I’ve been having trouble completing it b/c every time I sit down to work on it, in the workroom since I’m banned from the Whispering Woods computer, I ALWAYS get interrupted.  So she comes in and wants to chit chat about where I’m at in the training on top of talking to us about some new kids that are enrolling.  Also my CT was in there and of course we had to talk some.

In the classroom there was way too much noise and my sensory got way overloaded.  I also started o shake but I think that’s due to the coffee.  We had a kid who didn’t come to school and we didn’t know why.  I called dad at 9:30 and he called back at 9:45.  I wanted to call him back to talk and was going to but our helper didn’t come in at ten like she was supposed to.  I called the AD and asked if the helper was coming and told her I needed to make the return phone call.  She told me I could wait until two, which is supposed to be the time I was planning on working on the training.  The AD and the helper came in at 10:15, which is 15 minutes late.  She’s supposed to be there at ten everyday.  She’s the one that told us that was her schedule.  I’m curious if she wasn’t sure what she was supposed to do?  I’m wondering where she was.

Lunch went fast and all the kids took a nap.  I was able to complete my TIEDS and enter them online.  My CT has finished the training, but she’s been doing it on her lunch break.  Personally, I’ve decided not to do it.  That’s the only 30 minutes that I come close to getting a chance to breathe.  While I was on lunch the AD came in, on my time, while I’m off the clock, playing on the internet, looking at recipes and checking my email, and decides she wants to talk to me about the training and where I’m at on it.  HOW RUDE!!!  Especially after the super nasty email she sent me.  This was my time.  If she wanted to talk to me about business she should have waited.  If I was out of the building for lunch she wouldn’t have taken the time to call me, would she?  Doubt it!

When I got back to class half the kids were awake, and of course my CT was playing with them instead of making them stay on the mat.  Nor did she start changing their diapers!  Also I’d like to mention I know she didn’t change all the kids!  She did not change at least two and maybe a third.  She also seems to try to take the mats up when she should be doing diaper duty.  I do the diapers every morning while she plays.  It was something we agreed upon when she first started.  I don’t have the heart or the niceness in me to say “stick to your task: get the kids up, change their diapers, and be done to play, I’ll take care of the mats like we agreed”.

We had our egg hunt for our T/R class.  The kids did really well!  The one who are able to walk did it all on their own!

At two, we still had two kids and I asked my CT if I could go work on my training.  I completed the first quiz! Woo Hoo for me!!!  I also made a 100% on it!  I did the same technique that the AD used and recorded my answers so I could go back and change them if need be.  Then I gave them to a coworker and she didn’t bother to read the questions, she just answered them based off what I did.  It’s a bummer to find out the questions aren’t asked in the same order!  She failed!

The kids in the Amazon were awful!  Their teacher was off yesterday and they were ‘off the chain’ so to speak and it carried over to today.  Afterwards I headed to the toddlers.  Once I got there neither one of them decided to go work on any paperwork.  It was a bit aggravating b/ I could have gone, but I’m not allowed.  I’m supposed to stick to the schedule and let them get out.  What happens when they don’t go to work?  Should I rat them out?  Or should I just not worry about it?  It’s not my fault they didn’t finish what they were supposed to do.  However both of them have internet at home and they both took the training home and finished it there.  I on the other hand can’t do that.  I’ve tried all night to get a connection but haven’t been successful.

On the way home I got four picture messages from a friend of mom and he sent me photos of the new kitties.  They are so cute and bubble headed with their eyes still closed.  Talked to dad too.  He went fishing today and caught 15 keepers.  He only gets to go one more day for crappie.

When I got home I got a text from a friend and we are going to have a girl’s night on Saturday!  I also started cutting veggies for dinner.  We had grilled pork chops (4PPS), grilled pineapple (0PPS), and mixed steamed veggies – squash, mushrooms, and sweet potatoes (7PPS).  I also had a glass of s. blanc (8PPS).

While eating we watched CSI.  When were done DH went to have guy time and play games with Ross b/4 he sends the game back in the mail.

The husband is SOOO close to completing the second bathroom.  Today he filed putty, painted, and put in the foot base and accessories.  He said all he’s got left is last touch up/cleaning and installing potty, sink, shelves, and towel bar.  He said he wasn’t going to be able finish tomorrow b/c he’d need help from Ross to hold and install the heavy stuff.  Luckily though while we were on the phone Ross came home!  Maybe this time next week we will officially have two bathrooms!

Also we might go to the NFM tomorrow night, which I’m super excited about.  I’ve wanted to go to the FM for a while now but we don’t ever do it for some strange reason.  Te NFM is only on for one night a month.  I can’t wait.  I also really wish I could get the net to connect so I could view Publix circular.

I went a wee bit over my points today, but I hope its okay.

High today: tomorrow is Friday and I don’t have a class to be in all day (supposed to anyways).

Thanks for taking a minute…

togetherness

So today was another normal day.  I got up and had yogurt and banana for breakfast.  My yogurt was a carbmaster peach flavored with peach chunks.  Continued to try to read more of my book. Our meeting is in two weeks and I can’t wait to start it.

I wasn’t too good with my food intake today.  Someone brought left over Easter candy and I had a few.  It was the first time that I’d eaten a mini Reese cup in forever.  It was kinda weird, not like the creamy pb I remember, but still good and I ate a few.

The kids were good and I enjoyed playing with the babies again.

I decided to drive out to Mt. Juliet and have dinner and watch a movie with the girls.  We ate at Cori’s hotdog place.  I had a new one: Carolina; it’s like TN but without the relish.  It was good.  Lindsay had her usual and Carrie had the buffalo with blue cheese and hot sauce.  It was the first time she’d eaten there and liked it.  She’s like me and doesn’t really care for hotdogs too much.

Then we went to TJ’s and I found a neato dress for seven dollars.  It’s black with purple, green, and other bold colored paisley’s.  It’s extremely fitted in the arms and chest, but super giving in the belly area.  Which means I can sit down while wearing it and not feel like too much of a fatty fat fat.

Then we watched Water for Elephants.  It was alright.  It did a decent job portraying the book and didn’t change too much things.  The only thing I noticed was the cabbages the elephant ate.  In the book the cabbages are in a person’s garden and in the movie they are at a produce road shop.  Probably not an owner, def. liked the book better.

High today: my seven dollar dress!  I’ve been wanting something to wear so I could buy purple leggings and this might be the item!

Thanks for listening…

semi mundane Monday

Today wasn’t anything super special.

I had my tasty cheerios with a banana again for breakfast.  Read more of my book.  I tried to read kinda quickly so I can start my new one soon.

The day was decent enough, except for nap.  Out of six kids only two slept.  And one of them only slept for about twenty minutes!

Also during nap time the DR comes in and tells us that we have a PITA training that we need to complete by Friday.  Its three sections of 40 plus pages with quizzes at the end.  To make it even more fun we can only access it on the net!

After work I went to Trader Joe’s and walked around.  I ended up buying some roma tomatoes that had a pick date on it and two yummy cheeses: Romano made from sheep’s milk and red. fat smoked Gouda.  While playing on the net today I saw a yummy dish to use up the asparagus at home and the first cheese would be perfect to accompany it.

Then DH and I met Lindsay and Colin for dinner.  She ordered this super fab. pesto flatbread as an appetizer.  DH got the beef wellington (melt in your mouth delicious) and I ordered the strawberry chicken salad (decent enough, I had leftovers which I’m going to add some extra fresh strawberries to for a lunch salad this week.  Lindsay ordered the Grecian Chicken.  She didn’t like the sauce; it was too herby for her.  The server put her mushrooms on the side and Aaron and I ate them.  I liked the herby sauce but totally understand why she didn’t.  Her DH got the mahi tacos and they were amazing (he said).  I liked the way the appeared and he did let me try a bite of his veggies and they were fabulous.

Izzie’s doing well.  She’s ‘begging’ for food in her normal manner.  Aaron said she’s been lying on the couch on her back with her paws in the air.  We’re glad that she’s perking up.

High today: double date with buddies.

Thanks for taking a moment…

happy Easter

Today was an up and down kinda day as well as pretty boring towards the mid day and end.

I woke up as usual, at seven, and stayed awake all day.  I would have liked to take a nap, but didn’t.  I showered, made ‘breakfast’ (one slice of toast with pumpkin butter/spread and iced coffee).  Then I called dad and we had our usual Sunday chat.  Nothing really important discussed.  They’ve had pretty harsh weather the last few days.

Then I called mom.  She got a great Easter present from nature.  Mrs. Fancy face had her kittens!  She had them in the wee hours of Saturday morning.  She had three, one black and two creamy colored ones.  I tried to get Aunt Marsha, who was visiting this weekend, to text me a picture but it wouldn’t show up.  Guess I’ll have to wait till I visit again.  We stayed on the phone forever talking about how to help the kitty, the babies, and mom transition to ne life.

Afterwards I just played on the internet and read my book btwn connections.  Aaron didn’t get up until 11:30, so we didn’t go to Logan’s or shopping today.  I was ready to eat by the time he got up.  Then we had a tiff about who should have done what.  He thought I should have gotten him up to remind him that we were going and I thought it wasn’t my responsibility to get him out of bed to go eat, if he wanted to go he should have gotten up himself.  The main reason we had this discussion is b/c he’s not hungry when he first gets up, he usually has to wait a couple of hours and I wasn’t willing.

We never agreed who was at fault and ragged each other all day.  For lunch I had left over quinoa with veggies.  We just lounged around all day and watched movies.

We watched Megamind first.  It was cute.  I swear Megamind did not sound like Will Farrell.  Then we watched part of the Orphanage.  Aaron fell asleep, I really wanted too, but didn’t.  Since he fell asleep I changed to movie.  Instead we watched Couple’s Retreat.  He woke up and stayed awake for this one.  I liked it A LOT!  I’m glad we own it so I can watch over and over again.  This copy was Ross’ b/c DH parents have our copy, but it’s nice to know that we will have it forever.

By this time I was hungry again so I went back in the kitchen and reheated some left over roast and potatoes and added some fresh steamed broccoli.  Then we went back to sitting in front of the bube tube and watched a bit more of X-Files.

That’s it, we didn’t do anything today.

High: mommies’ kitties!

Thanks for listening…

an adult night

This entry isn’t too impressive, b/c today wasn’t an impressive day.  I didn’t really do all that much.  I woke up, still with a pain in the neck, ate a new favorite bfast combo of vanilla carbmaster with fresh strawberries, played on the internet and read my book.

I was trying to find a place to go have drinks with Jen and Mike.  I really wanted to go to the place that’s on the corner over by Mitchel’s deli, but couldn’t remember the name to save my life.  I txtd Mrs. Jeni around noon and she didn’t get back to me till after eight when we were already headed to Hermitage to meet up.

I tried my sunflower bread with a spread of spicy LC cheese for lunch with some carrots.  I don’t really care for the bread that way.  It might be better with pimento and cheese or tuna, but not plain or with just cheese.  I was trying to save points b/c I knew we were going out later.

Aaron woke up around eleven or so and headed over to his parents to update, print, and email his resume to Jen.  Mike is trying to get him a job with his cousin Robbie doing managerial construction type work.  When he came home we just lounged and watched CSI and X-files.

While he was gone I went outside to lay out and read and change over into a new purse.  I took Izzie out with me and she seemed to enjoy it, but got stick so we went back inside after I finished with my purse.  We were only there for about twenty minutes or so.

We waited forever to find out whether or not we were having dinner or just drinks with them and ended up eating at seven.  I was famished by then and ate my dinner way too quickly.  I had left over veggie lasagna.  Not that great left over, it definetly needs to be creamier.  For dessert I made an awesome cup of iced coffee.  I was drinking my coffee and he was finishing his prep work on dinner when Jen called.  They ate Chick-Fil-A for dinner and said we could meet up when we finished eating.

We met them over at The Box Seat in Hermitage and had a drink.  Aaron met Robbie and Nate and the two of them had already had a few so I didn’t quite understand everything they were talking about.  Aaron let them see his resume and got their email info and is supposed to email it to them ASAP.

It was a bust there so we went to the Rusty Nail which was a lot more fun.  Robbie was nice and bought our round of drinks at TBS and the first round at RN.  I played cornhole and did a pretty good job for it being my first time.  I also met two chicks, one of them is a kindred spirit.  She is a ‘cat lady’, works with children, and used to be a lawyer.  While we were there, a stray kitty came around and she was going to take it home but Nate did instead.  I tried to convince him to wait so he could have one of mom’s cats but he was intoxicated and into instant gratification.  Erica, the kindred spirit, told  me I could call the humane society and tell them I found strays and would like to have them fixed and they would do it for ‘free’ and I would give a donation of sorts.  I told her, for some strange reason not to think about it, that I’d like her to keep in contact with me if she ever came across someone who wanted a cat here in the near future.  I gave her my name, number, and email.  I was being rushed off to the next place so I couldn’t have a good conversation with her.

Then we went to TJ’s on Stewart Ferry’s exit and I bought a round of drinks.  This was my fourth one and I couldn’t finish it.  I was getting sleepy and the alcohol had hit me.  But I don’t feel too bad, Jen couldn’t finish hers either.

When we got home I lay in the bathroom floor for a little while waiting for the expected, but luckily it didn’t come.

High today: getting to have adult time with Jen and Mike.

Thanks for reading…

TGIGF

So today was a really good day.  It’s Good Friday which means we were closed and I didn’t have to work!  I did wake up with a great pain in the neck/right shoulder again and lay on a heating pad till elevenish.  Oh yeah, I got to sleep in a whole extra hour today!  My body let me!

When I got up I perused the internet some more.  I went ahead and figured out how many points were in the orangeberry shortcake cookies I want to make; there’s 5PPs in 12 and I assume there’s 3PPs in 24 with one cookie being a serving.  I also found the recipes for the protein pancakes I had planned on making for brunch/lunch, but it didn’t happen.

DH didn’t get up till ten.  I asked him about it and his reply was he was in pain and super tired so he thought he’d sleep a little bit longer.  (Not a big deal looking back at what he accomplished today.)  Once he was awake I felt like it was okay to get up and be active.  I cleaned the dishes and the kitchen, literally cleaned it, so now it’s all nice and shiny.

When I finished cleaning I wasn’t super hungry so I ate an orange outside so I wouldn’t get juice all over the place, not to mention I was trying to hold off till closer to noon to make the pancakes.  Well noon rolled around I still wasn’t hungry but couldn’t think of what to do other than be lazy, but felt bad b/c DH and roomie were working.  So I decided to mow the yard.

This was the first time in my entire life I’ve ever mowed!  I mowed half the back and 98% of the front yard and the edges with the push mower and the back with the riding mower.  While using the push mower I made it harder on myself so I’d burn more calories and get more shoulder/back/neck/leg/torso exercise in.  I also mowed our little ditch the hard way, which DH later commented on.  By they time I finished the front (I started doing the back small half patch area) I was pooped, my hands felt weird, and I was starting to get a headache; so I went inside and laid on the floor for ten minutes and drank some water mixed with pedialyte.  Then I got back in the saddle, on the riding mower that is, and finished the back yard.  Mowing the back yard was way quicker and more fun.

Once I was done it was around 3 and I was HUNGRY, but knew I couldn’t eat a full meal b/c we were supposed to have a big dinner so I snacked (orange) and snacked (cheese stick and chips) and snacked (carrots and more fruit bowl) some more.  I also sat and watched Cinderella III, it was kind of weird.

By the time my movie was over the guys were done putting in the new back door, that’s right I finally got an easy opening and closing door!  OMG, its SOOOO nice!  I barely have to pull it and it almost shuts on its own.  It’s so light weight.  It’s absolutely amazing.  For memory sake the reason why I’m making such a huge deal about the door is b/c when DH and I put up b-board around the dry storage/laundry area we f’d up the wall somehow and screwed with the way the door opened and shut.  I used to have to use two hand to pull it open from the inside, literally slam it to shut it from the outside, either kick it in or use over half my weight to open it from the outside, and lean up against it to shut it from the inside!  Sounds like a work out in itself.  NOT ANYMORE!!!! Every time I went through it today DH noticed that I smiled about it.  Man the little things in life don’t ya know.

Anyways, we got to have dinner with our friends Jen and Mike from Martin.  We met up at Cracker Barrel and I of course had my go to dinner there.  It’s THE best sandwich: fried chicken BLT on whole wheat sourdough, with a monstrous slice of cheddar cheese and two strips of thick bacon, lettuce, and tomato, with mayo (which I always hold and usually sub for HM).  UMMM, not even hungry and it still sounds good.   DH had is usually of the country boy breakfast.  Then we had to part ways and they had to go back to the hotel for their awards ceremony.

Back at home I talked to mom for a long time.  ‘Her’ dog, Red, (it’s not really her dog, just a stray they take care of and are trying to give away, but I know they love him all the same) which she said ‘my dog’ during the description of this story: got beat up by a pit bull!  She was there when it happened and didn’t know what to do.  The pit comes over to play a lot, but this day it went for Red’s food and he wasn’t having it, so they got into a brawl.  Mom said it was the worst thing she’d seen and couldn’t stop it b/c she was worried the pit would go after her and she wouldn’t be able to get away fast enough.  After her repeating the story several times backwards and forwards (just her way of talking) she finally said the law went to the owner of pit and found out the blood on the pit was all Red’s, there wasn’t a single wound on the pit.  The law told the man he had to keep the dog on a leash or else he would be taken away.  The owner offered to take mom to the vet, but she said he was kinda scary looking and she wasn’t going anywhere with him.  After a few days of tending to his wounds Red came back and seems to be fine.  He’s got boo boos in his ear and on his lip.  He won’t play with mom in water anymore b/c he thinks she’s going to try to clean his wounds, but he will still let her pet him.  I hope he’s okay and doesn’t get an infection or anything.  Aunt Marsha and Granny are supposed to go to moms in the morning and help her clean out the shed for her future garage sale as well as to visit for the holiday.  She called to see if we were coming in, but we can’t go b/c of Izzie.

Oh, yeah, we found out yesterday that her count showing anemia is still low, but at the same level, not lower, so the doc wants to keep her on meds longer; which means when we run out we have to take her back to get checked again and get new scripts.  Her white blood cell, the infection fighters, is still high which I guess is to be expected.  But other than that there’s no change and we just gotta keep making her comfy.

After I got off the phone with mom we finished watching the episode of CSI that we started b4 Jen called.  I’d also like to mention for memory sake that my hands are a bit tender in the middle from holding the bar of the mower for so long.  Next time I should wear some sort of padding or something.

High today: got a new back door and had dinner with some old friends (and we are supposed to meet up for drinks tomorrow).

Thanks for listening…

my 'friday'

Today was a good day! I woke up full from last night, which I didn’t write about b/c it was kinda late when we got back, my belly was stuffed, and it was WW.  Even it I’d written about it goodness knows how long it would’ve taken, considering there was 30 plus restaurants that we sampled 3-5 items each at!  Oh, I had my favorites: lamb, strawberry chive cheese, French chocolate Dutch macaroon, x-rated chocolate cupcake, and a pork egg roll like app.  This little label doesn’t do any sort of justice to how amazing each item was, but that’s not for today or any day really I guess, but oh well.  Oh yeah I also finally got to try peppadews, and I totally see what all the fuss is about so to speak, they are AMAZING little bites.

Anyways back to today…  So my belly was still full and all I had for breakfast was a glass of light chocolate milk and a banana.  I was super thirsty and drank almost two glasses of water too.  I did wake up with a pain in my neck and remembered that I was supposed to call the lawyer about closing my case down, but haven’t done it yet with everything that’s gone on this week.  Maybe Monday I’ll remember and give him a call.  So I had this awful uncomfortable pain in my neck that really lasted all day long.  I’m assuming it’s got something to do with the pillows I’m sleeping on.  I think they aren’t’ supporting my neck at all which is so weird b/c I haven't switched pillows and I’ve not had this problem up until now, so I wonder what in the world is going on?  I really don’t want to go back to the doctor and have to start PT again.  I’m thinking maybe since I’m out of school tomorrow maybe I should lay on a heating pad?

I got work on time/early today and checked my email as usual.  I didn’t have enough time to find Anne a sympathy e-card; need to do that tomorrow, even though I forgot to get her email, maybe it’s saved in my email.

The room ran pretty smoothly today.  Sometimes I really wonder what on earth my CT does when I’m not around.  When she’s gone on lunch I’m usually able to complete the half notes, sometimes my typed notes too, and a few other tasks.  When I’m gone on lunch she might get two typed notes completed!  I know that she pecks at the keyboard, but does that really slow a person down that much?  I always get out the lunch count sheet, update flow sheets, do attendance and med logs, and clean up the counter before she gets back.

I was able to complete all my TEIDS entries and contact logs except for one, which I didn’t have b/c I’m supposed to talk to her on Fridays, but we are closed tomorrow and that means there won’t be one for him so I’ll try to finish it first thing Monday morning.  On top of doing all the other tasks that I know my CT won’t do.

At 2:45 I got to go play with the oldest kids in the building and they had their egg hunt.  The teacher in there did not go out to do paperwork, which isn’t my fault, but I wasn’t about to chance asking Otsana if I could get out.  Not my fault the LT in that room didn’t get anything done, I was there and so was she.  I understand why she didn’t leave, but the finger can not be pointed at me.

Then as usual at 3:30 I went to the toddlers and that AT did get out and do a little bit of work.  She was only out for fifteen or twenty minutes and said she got what she needed to do done!  I’m assuming that means she’s caught up?  Well they had left over goodies from their spring fling party which they were nice enough to share: mini lofthouse sugar cookies and a Harris Teeter cupcake.  The cupcake was ‘eehh’, but I ate it anyways.  I shouldn’t have, but I couldn’t part with it and put it in the trash.  I did eat an orange too so I wouldn’t keep eating those sweet mini’s.

I stopped by the library to pick up our book for the next month and I love the cover!  The librarian was super nice and let me check it out using my car registration.  Shame on me for not having my license!  It was in the purse that I carried to the Iron Fork.  Luckily enough I didn’t get pulled over!

When I got home I was glad to see that the DH had remembered to put the veggie lasagna in the oven and it was close to being done.  It was good, could have been a bit creamier and meatier, but it was a VEGGIE lasagna, so that’s okay.  I also had a nice glass of s. blanc to accompany it and some fresh cut up fruit for dessert.  I hit right at my allotted points today: bfast – milk 3 and banana 0, lunch – salad with ranch 1, treats – cookies 6 and cupcake 6, dinner – lasagna 6 and wine 6 and fruit 0.  The wine is a guestimate.

Aaron stepped on the scale this evening and informed that he has lost weight.  I thought so b/c he just looked and felt skinner, but thought it was in my head.  Nope he really has lost weight; 20 POUNDS!  I’m happy for him, but green at the same time.  All he’s done is real work, labor, hands on, moving around activities.  He’s still eating the same foods, just being active at work versus sitting in a chair all day!  We’ve lost the same amount of weight, but I tried way harder, still working on it, and have to eat healthy (which is really okay b/c I know it’s better for me but I’m SO jealous of all the fat he gets to eat like cheese and meats) HE gets to eat whatever he wants and just work harder.  He just has a way better metabolism.  Boo on being a fat chick right now!  With all this said, I’m still happy that he did lose the weight I just wish that I could be that way.

High for the day… I read a note about one of the kids on my caseload online and it mentioned that dad was not going to accept a diagnosis of Autism and he was going to talk to the pediatrician about it!  This makes me so happy.
I believe that this is the new trendy fad diagnosis and that it’s super over diagnosed.  One of the kids on my caseload on M/W got diagnosed with it and we believe she’s got something else going on, but mom’s okay with it and thinks she’ll get more services.  I hope it’s helpful for them.

That’s all for today, thanks for listening…

happy day

So today wasn’t anywhere near as bad as our Monday.  I’m pumped to say that Izzie self regulated her bowels over night last night.  I know that she got up at least twice to go potty!

I started the day off with a nice healthy bowl of FF cottage chz with cantaloupe.  Once I got to work I talked to my CT and she informed me that we got ‘scolded’ for having our Spring Fling celebration too late.  We put it on the last week of the month.  If we hadn’t have been rushed to finish the LP so far in advance with so much fussing maybe we would have been more aware of our dates.  Oh well, now our kids will know and understand how to hunt, not to mention our parent’s with other children will hopefully be able to attend it since their other kids will have already had their hunts.

We also found out that one of our kids was evaluated by some man and he said that the child ‘has a language delay, but doesn’t’ need too much EI and he could be negatively affected by having too much’.  So the mom is pulling the kid out of our socialization center and his ST!  CRAZY!  He has a speech delay, he needs some sort of assistance b/c he obviously isn’t getting enough at home.

Now off my soap box.  The rest of the day was alright.  Aaron and Ross did an amazing job working on the house.  They put up more drywall and finished the ceiling.  When I got home they were blowing insulation!  Izzie was also feeling a bit better.  She came out and walked around the house.  She initiated drinking water!  Tried to have a BM.  While I was washing the dishes she licked the left over pot roast dish clean.  She is also moving around a bit quicker and getting up and down on higher surfaces.

Since DH was working on the house he forgot to make our veggie lasagna so I had to fend for myself.  I ate quinoa with veggies and had a super yummy glass of s. blanc.  I also got to have ice cream!  Our house is exceptionally warm since we are trying to keep it that way for our dog so she doesn’t get too cool.

High for today… Izzie being more active and still here.

Thanks for listening…

how much?!?!

So today was even more awful than Friday and the rest of the weekend.  It started out easily enough.  We had planned on taking Izzie to the vet regardless to get more fluids and to remove her port.  Aaron actually woke up at seven am and called the vet about taking her in.  When he first called the person who answered the phone said he couldn’t come in till ten b/c that’s when the docs got in.  So this kind of threw off our plan to carpool to save money on gas.  Luckily enough the doc called back with in twenty minutes and said we could bring her in b/c it was a special case.  So he got ready, took me to work, and dropped her off.

The day goes pretty normal considering I was exhausted from the emotionally draining weekend.  At 11:20 or so Aaron calls me.  I couldn’t answer it b/c the kids were still awake.  However he called again not even five minutes later.  Now I knew something was wrong so I answered it.  He vet did a blood work check and it showed that Izzie was unusually low in some important blood item and was causing her to become/or be anemic.  Her first thought was there is possible internal bleeding.  She thought this b/c it was strange for her count to drop so dramatically in a few days.  Well at this point we have to take her to a specialist and get lots of testing done.  Aaron stats something along the lines of “an approximation of fees are 3 to 5 thousand dollars and he doesn’t believe we should pay that and wondered dif we should put her down”.  OMG, OMG, OMG, were we really talking about putting or big girl down?  It was such a hard idea to wrap my mind around.  So fortunately enough I was able to leave as soon as Aaron got there and we took her to the specialist.

We dropped her off around one and didn’t get to pick her up till after six.  They x-rayed her chest and there weren’t any bad signs.  Then they did an ultra sound on her belly.  They saw some abnormalities in her liver, kidneys, and the mass we saw a picture of when they removed her uterus.  However b/c she had surgery on Friday there was lots of air in the belly where the uterus was located and ultrasounds don’t read air, they read solids.  He gave us a guestimate (the price of a used car) to do an “exploratory” surgery, which basically means opening he up, probing around, and trying to find what’s wrong.  It also covered a blood transfusion if needed and other necessary ‘fixes’ that might need to be taken care of ASAP.  That DIDN’T cover a treatment if they found something.

Basically it all means that now we KNOW she’s dying and we can’t do much about it other than keep her happy, comfortable, and content.  It’s kind of better knowing now instead of her just passing away on day without warning.  Now we get to cherish our last days with her.

When we got home and ate dinner she was semi back to her usual self.  She licked both our plates clean (we had pot roast, potatoes, and onions).  Then I gave her the pb sandwich leftover from this morning covered in fat with broth and she was so funny.  She ate the fat first and tried licking the broth.  After some coercing she ate the sandwich.

While waiting forever to get the phone all to pick her up we went to Costco and the mall and walked around.  I was lucky enough to finally find and purchase myself a pair of white heels to wear through out the summer!  I’ve been looking for white shoes I like for over a year (not to mention the price I was willing to pay).

Food wise I didn’t do too hot today.  I ate my cheerios with a banana, missed lunch b/c of the vet appt, ate a bunch of way fattening food samples at Costco, had pot roast and fixings with a glass of red wine for dinner.  I'm not even going to try to guestimate the point’s values, just hope to do better tomorrow.

High today was that Izzie ate and now we know sorta kinda what’s going on.

Thanks for letting me get this out…

end of the weekend

What a day we’ve had in our family.  I woke up prepared to take Izzie to the vet again for fluids, but not for all that happened.  After waking I took a shower, as usual.  I sat booted up the computer in order to upload the last few days of entries, but fate pulled the reigns and decided that’s not what I was going to do.

Since I got out of bed DH realized how cold he was and got out too.  He brought Izzie into the room so I could take care of her while he took a shower.  I was in the process of making breakfast.  I had planned on making her a scrambled egg and an omelet for myself.  I beat, ‘creamed’, and whipped her eggs and then scrambled it.  I tried to give it to her and she snubbed it.  I didn’t put salt, cheese, or any other flavor addition on it, just straight up eggs.  Then I sautéed some onions and red peppers for my omelet.  And then I added egg whites with a slice of fat free cheddar cheese.  Before eating it I cracked a bit of salt over the top.  On a whim I offered some to Izzie.  To my surprise she ate it.  Since she was enjoying it I gave her mixed bites of my omelet with her eggs to take her meds.  Once we got to the nasty pills, Tramadol (I think that’s the name), she was over it.  We had to force them down her throat.  So we were glad that she ate, drank some water, and took her meds.  About twenty minutes later though, everything she’s eaten the last twelve plus hours visited us on the papasan cushion.  We’re not sure why she lost it all, but now we know she didn’t have any meds in her system.  We clean up the mess and lay around till it’s time to go to the vets at noon.

At eleven we get up and start our plans.  I made an amazingly delicious summer friendly fruit salad consisting of pineapple, cantaloupe, and strawberries.  Aaron went out and finished cleaning the papasan cushion.  I packed a sandwich and some chips for our picnic we were supposed to have.  Of course as we’re getting ready to leave Ross gets up and he and Aaron decide to chit chat like hens for a little while.

We went straight to the vet and left her there.  After leaving we got into a stupid tiff about lunch.  It was one o’clock and I was hungry but he wasn’t.  How r we supposed to have a picnic lunch when one of us isn’t eating.  I’m also a little heated b/c Aaron metaphorically slapped my hands at my comments/behaviors/personality that showed through at the vet’s office.  He viewed me as cutting him off and I was just asking questions b/c I thought he was done talking.  These words don’t convey the tension that was in the car, but nothing really can.  After parking in a lot, mind you no place for a picnic, Aaron decides he’s ready to eat, so we head over to Subway and he gets a sandwich.  Then we drive to 100 oaks and eat in the car in the parking lot before shopping.  Once we finished we went our separate ways to go into our stores.  I went into the K&G (I think that’s the name) and realized I was one of the two white people in there.  They had some interesting things.  Then I headed off to TJ’s and found two items I wanted, but didn’t want to stand in line for just those so I put them back.  Neither one were necessities, just interesting.  Next I headed to Burlington.  There I found lots of stuff I wanted.  I ended up getting a fancy twistable grater and stainless steel mechanical can opener for my mom.  I also spent lots of times looking at their coats and jackets they had on sale.  I ended up purchasing two.  One was a winter jacket that can be worn three ways: an insert on its own, an insert with the coat, and the outer coat on its own.  The other coat was a slim fitting black coat with about six buttons straight down.  I got it with the idea that it would be more of a dress up jacket for when I go places that the everyday wear coat doesn’t really match.  I really wanted to get a few skirts, but then I’d have to find matching tops and we just didn’t have time (we had to stop somewhere else and then pick Izzie up, however I do want to go back with Carolyn and spent lots of time in there).  We also spent lots of time looking at baby stuff.  No reason really why we did it other than the pack in play was a deluxe line and I couldn’t believe how fancy it was and still inexpensive.  We also looked at cribs.  If we have kids I want a transitional bed and didn’t know if Aaron knew what they were.  Then we looked at diaper bags and I found two that I LOVE.  One was a bag style and the other was a backpack.  They were the same brand.  Each had a changing pad, lots of pockets (which I always want); one pocket was made specifically for wipes and included a wipe box and another unique pocket was insulated for bottles.  Also one of the bags had a paci pocket, which was different.  I was really shopping for new white dress shoes incase I need some for our Wednesday event.  But all that I could find were patent leather, and that doesn’t really look good in white on my pasty skin.

After personal shopping we went to the salvage place and Essex to look at home stuff, but didn’t really find anything too interesting.

Then we picked up Izzie.  We got mixed reviews.  They kept the port in and want us to bring her back tomorrow and get checked out again.  She didn’t eat at the vet b/c he didn’t want to upset her tummy since she threw up this morning.  He advised us to get pedialyte to help rehydrate her.  He also said that it was okay to let her soak up sun outside since her temp is still low.  I found out the term for this is ‘hypo-something’, which makes sense b/c when you go into hypothermia, its b/c your temp is low and your body is shutting down.  This vet told us to stop giving her the Tramadol b/c she may be sensitive to the side effect (drowsiness) and that’s what we’re seeing versus not healing.  He told us that we could feed her anything except for grapes, bones, chocolate, onions, and mac nuts.  He also wanted us to work really hard on keeping her body temp up at home.

From there we went to the store and bought more pb, bread (low car high protein), pedialyte, and my necessities and headed home.  Once we got home Izzie decided she needed to go potty in the house by the new bathroom.  At the same time I discovered that our roommate made a huge mess on the kitchen counter.  There was tons of water spilled all the way under the microwave.  At this point I’m livid.  There’s pee to clean up, dog’s dinner to make, our dinner to make, a mess to clean up, and I forgot to get paper towels at the store!  ERRRR, just typing this make me aggravated again.  So it’s now after seven, which I don’t like to eat past, and still have to make dinner.  We had planned on eating veggie lasagna, but it takes one hour to make plus ten to fifteen minutes set time so it’s not runny.  Instead I indulge in a slice of new bread with a schmear of pb while waiting for my chipotle black bean burger to defrost and heat.  I also consume more of my fruit salad while waiting.  After the burger I finish off the fruit salad and have a couple pieces of dark chocolate.  Tomorrow we are supposed to have pot roast for dinner.  I hope that in the morning I feel like getting it together, b/c I don’t want to leave DH responsible for all of it.  He is going to have to put the veggies in.  I also need to call the vet at seven am about how long we can leave Izzie there on fluids yet again in order to make arrangements for our course.  I think we are going to eat the veggie lasagna on Tuesday.

We also started the last season of X files today which means we are even closer to watching Battlestar Galactica.  My high today?... the coats.  I’ve lost a bit of weight and the coats I’ve been wearing are a wee bit too big (they are Aaron’s small ones) and I haven’t bought myself anything new in a new size till today.

Thanks for letting me release…
