1st of the season!

Well today was the first day of the season I got on the lake!!!!!  We got up at our regularly scheduled time and enjoyed ourselves.

I didn’t break down and eat any of dad’s fatty snack on the boat, but I did enjoy a couple pieces of tropical 7 layer bars.

We caught 19 fish!  I had the ‘snicker fish’ for about an hour but dad caught one that trumped mine.

For dinner we ate some wonderful wild duck breast w a sauce, green beans, and my favorites potatoes which I don’t know how to spell, but if you know me then you know what they are!  If not guess I should tell you, and for me to be able to remember them, how to do it:
In an oven safe dish (also stove top safe) melt a whole stick of butter
Then place peeled and super thick sliced potatoes in melted butter
Pour water in dish till the potatoes are 2/3 of the way covered
Bake, not sure bout temp and time, guess I should figure that out huh?!?!
Serve those tasty crispy edged soft pots w some sour cream and fresh chives.

Oh I forgot to mention that I sort of kind of learned how to back the boat/trailer into areas.  Told dad I needed to learn how to do it incase we ever get a boat I would need to know how.  I did so well, I didn’t have to forward and back up a single time!!!!

Of course you can probably guess what the best part of my day was, but I’ll tell you anyways: being w dad on the lake.

I’m glad you came by on the weekend and hope you’ll try these potatoes…

just a quick one

Well it’s pretty darn close to my bedtime, considering I gottsa be up at the crack as of dawn to get on the lake and catch all the fish!  So I’ll be quick.

Day was easy.  Bfast was yummy.  I got four out of eight summaries done during paperwork time.  I tried to call my weekly parent this morning, who I had an appointment with for a 10:30 phone call, but she didn’t answer!

I gave the big kids teacher paperwork time and then relieved the teacher in the big kids class.  The most aggravating part of the day was when the floater was in error and didn’t read the white board correctly.  She was supposed to come back to the room @ 1:30, but didn’t come back till 2:00.  She thought she was supposed to go hang out with the other class while they slept!

Then I went to babies for paper work till 3:00.  @ 3:00 I played w the toddlers until I left.  The AT didn’t come back till right at 4:30!  I only say that b/c she usually comes back five to ten minutes early from her time.

On the way to dad’s I was going to stop at Wal Mart in Camden, but he told me that Mike wanted me to go to O’Rielly’s (?) to pick up a very specific item.  However when I got to the Wal Mart in Paris dad did not know what the item was so I had to dilly dally in Wal Mart for a bit.

Now I’m ready to crash and go fishing in the morning!!!!

You already know what the best part was today: coming to Paris to go fishing!!!!!!

Thanks for checking in on me on a Friday.  Hope you have a great weekend…

growing up and moving forward

Today ended up being one of the best Thursday’s in a loooonnngggg time!  It started out terrible; I woke up at four a.m. in a substantial amount of pain (damn tooth).  I tried to ignore it and go back to sleep, but of course my brain being the way that it is and all I couldn’t stop thinking the worst or worse (which is the correct English term?).  I finally got up after more than thirty minutes to take a couple of ibuprofens, not food and safe.  I was able to fall back asleep and rest peacefully for about thirty more minutes.

For bfast I made a huge bowl of strawberries, mango, and blackberries and topped it with cherry vanilla yogurt.  Since it was soooo large I split it and saved the other part for a late bfast around 8:45 (in hopes that I wouldn’t snack through out the morning on junk food).  I really like the cherry flavored yogurts in ‘parfaits’!  I also enjoyed one of the best cup of coffees, courtesy of Aunt Linda and her x-mas gift of flavored cream.

I think I got a decent start on my monthlies, updated all the collection now all I gotta do is type em’.

So if you’re wondering what made the day so good, since I woke up in pain, my new little guy w CP and CVI had his best day yet!  I took his shoes/braces off when he arrived and it helped him move on his own a little.  Also my CT moved him to the cozy area and he calmed down on his own before going outside.  Then during circle time he stayed calm without any tears!  To add to the happiness he ate almost all of his entrée lunch; spaghetti-o’s AND drank all of his ‘milkshake’ by mouth (which means I didn’t have to tube feed him – woops I forgot to record that hopefully I’ll remember to do it tomorrow).  Then he took a nap and woke up happy for the most part.  Oh yeah during lunch it sounded like he said an imitation/approximation for pasta.  The only tears, really bad ones that is, was during snack when my CT was working with him.

At 2:40 or so I ate a super large slice of Sam & Zoe’s chocolate cake.  OM Goodness Gracious Alive, it was probably one of the best store bought cakes.  It was kind of like a texas sheet cake minus the nuts.  It had a nice chocolatey fudge like icing, decent chocolate cake, but at the bottom there was a rich brownie like layer.  Needless to say I’m sure I put a little on and the scales are going to show it b/4 bed.

I played with the babies for a bit, then went to the big kids, and wasn’t needed there so I went back to the babies.  I will say that both teachers really aggravated me: I was there to relieve them to do paperwork, but they just wouldn’t leave!!!  I had to coax the AT into leaving.  Then the LT came back in and tried to do what I vocally told her I was going to do at least two times.  Finally I had to take a kid from her and tell her to go ahead and go that I was okay there were only three kids.  At 4:15 I was able to get out and finish updating my data collection so I can type summaries tomorrow!

I called hubs at 5:00 when I got off and he didn’t answer so I stayed and played on the net.  I would like to remember that the neatest thing I saw on line today was a recipe on how to make my own yogurt.  Maybe one day I’ll try it!

Aaron actually went to his first kickball game while I stayed home and prepped bfast, lunch, fruit for the weekend snacks, dessert makings, and washed the dishes.  Then I called dad and packed my clothes for the weekend.  Oh yeah, I’m going to Paris to go fishing this weekend *picture me doing a little happy dance*.

I just ate the next to last cupcake from the place that made the pink lemonade and it wasn’t all that great.  It was the mint chocolate one.  The cake was a bit dry, could be b/c it’s a little ‘old’, BUT the minty flavor tasted more like toothpaste than mint like a girlscout cookie.  Hopefully the last one, a weird twisted rocky road like one, will be better.  I’m going to try to remember to take it with me and eat on the car ride to dad’s.

I’m torn btwn little guy having a wonderful day and knowing I will be on the lake this weekend as my high.

Hope you were glad to read a positive entry for a change..

monday's & a zucchini tuna recipe

Well today was a bit better than I thought it as going to be; considering I only got close to two hours of sleep!  That’s right two!  For some strange reason I couldn’t actually calm down enough to relax and sleep.  Hubs had to be at work at 4:30 and got up at 4:00, yeah me too.  I got up, showered, then read some book.

I also wasn’t too terribly hungry so I didn’t eat.  Instead I packed my bfast and took it with me to school.  I had strawberries and blackberries w cherry vanilla yogurt.  It was wonderful!  Since I didn’t get home till later last night I also had to make lunch today: chicken (1PPs) and tomato salad w lots of fresh fruits and veggies to snack on.

The day was easy.  We only had three kids.  One was our newest M/W friend and she did excellent!  My little lady w Autism had the best day to date.  She only cried a little when nanny dropped off and in the afternoon when I was putting demands on her to let me know it was her turn for her toy.

Once the kids were gone I tried to find myself a training/workshop to cover my annual training hours.  I found an awesome one on CVI, but it’s in MA and there’s no way I can go to it!  BUMMER!!!!

Then, since it’s Monday I played w the babies.  I stayed in there till I got off.  I stayed to let the AT get out and do paperwork, but her little guy had a temperature and she worked on trying to figure out what was going on.  Also I got to rock one of the babies to sleep and he had his two blankets from home and went down w/in less than ten minutes!  I think the blanket made it way easier than the last several times I’ve tried (lots of kicking and screaming and fussing and crying and resisting to no end).

By four fifteen there were only three babies: one sleep (afore mentioned), one jumping, and the other one on one attention and acrobat activities.  I had lots of fun playing w her and got a great pic on my phone.

I got off on time and got home at my regularly scheduled time.  I prepped bfast and lunch for tomorrow.  I also made a wonderful dinner; which I should enter into Biz’s ‘contest’ even though I don’t really want the prize.
            Zucchini
            Squash
            Bell peppers
tossed w EVOO, cracked pepper, and garlic salt then roasted

            Tuna
            Cheese
            Caramelized onion
in a bowl sat on the stove to get warm

Once the veggies were done, mix w meat/cheese/onion and top w pine nuts.

It was sooooo yummy.  I also ate a few bites of the hubs chicken pieces.

I’ve reached my daily total, or will after this, and maybe went over: 2 @ bfast, 1 @ lunch (chicken), 17 for snacks (cake, vanilla wafers, and goldfish), 4 @ dinner (tuna, cheese, nuts), and then about 5 for my dessert.

Now onto my wonderful baked good.  Best part about today was actually spending the evening w Aaron.

Hope your Monday was good too…

Sunday, March 25, 2012

Well it’s sort-of-kind-of really late for me and I’m ready to lay down and relax.

I had a nice laid back day.  I got up around eight.  I enjoyed a wonderful bowl of fruit while doing my nails.  I painted the top 2/3’s light green and the bottom 1/3 dark green.  Once it was dry I dabbed the same dark green on the light green and now I have this pretty awesome trio of colors and it almost looks good!

Once I finished I headed out to Goodwill, only to discover it doesn’t open till 11, and I still had 30 minutes.  So I went into Aldi’s and shopped.  I was only going to get pears and sprinkles, but ended up w much more: carrots, peppers, salmon, and some sausage/brat thingies hoping hubs will love it.  Then I went to Goodwill.  I saw some amazing shoes, but they were all too big and I left empty handed.  Before finishing my shopping I popped into Kroger and got ten yogurts w two mangoes.  I skipped the bananas, so I could get them at Walmart later this week.

Once I got to the IL’s I ate my leftovers from MD’s we some pickle and chips.  For dessert I enjoyed a granola bar.  I spent the day on the net: balancing my checkbook, updating my blogs, and bought my Iron Fork ticket, as well as RSVP’d to GNO.

For dinner we grilled salmon and veggies (done Carolyn’s new way: brushed w EVO and balsamic vinegar and sprinkled w spices).  Together we made a mediterranean style quinoa (loosely based off this recipe):

Quinoa
1 cup cooked quinoa
½ + c bell peppers, diced
¼ c sun dried tomatoes (the dried kind, not oil packed), diced
1/8 c olives (we used Spanish b/c that’s what we had, but you can use whatever you prefer), diced
½ cucumber, diced
1 lemon squished for juices
EVO, salt, pepper, thyme, basil (no measurement, just sprinkled and dashed and cracked)
Feta cheese (optional)
TO MAKE:  Sautee peppers w EVO and herbs for bout 5 minutes.  Toss in tomatoes and sauté till plumped.  Add peppers/tomatoes to grains, turn off stove and add olives and cucumbers to warm skillet till warm (so that it doesn’t drop the temp of the grain).  Mix this in with bowl, squeeze/pour lemon juice over mix, stir, and serve.
Then sprinkle cheese over for garnish if desired.

After dinner I returned to the net and got so close to finishing all my blogs!!!!!

Oh yeah, I got my hair trimmed today too!  It feels so healthy.  That and being with my IL’s was the best today.

Glad you read today and hope you’ll try this tweaked recipe and tweak for yourself…

Saturday, March 24, 2012

Well today was WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!

Of course I got up early, as usual, and enjoyed a yummy bowl of fruit.  I also enjoyed two cups of coffee b/4 Linds arrived.

For lunch we headed over to Mad Donnas, kind of courtesy of my MIL (she let me borrow her city saver catalog).  I ordered the East Side Wrap (spin. art. Dip, spinach leaves, cilantro corn relish/hash) w FF and a black raspberry mimosa.  She ordered a burger w FF and a white grape mimosa.  I enjoyed my wrap, but wish the dip and spinach leaves would have been more balanced (not enough dip and too much leaves).  She got the bacon cheese burger, bacon and cheese only, and it was a good burger!  At least I know I can go there for a good one now.

After lunch we shopped at a beauty store.  I found so wonderful lip balm and cologne I want but didn’t get.  I did however purchase two bottles of polish for less than five bucks (when one runs nine regularly priced).

The cupcakes were great!  It was 15.00 to get in and we got 10 tickets for 10 cupcakes.  First though I tried some Tasti-di-Lite.  It was okay.  I’m not sure why Renny likes it so much, guess I need to try other flavors or larger serving.

I ‘paid’ for a cupcake from The Painted Cupcake (yummy – chocolate w pb chips and toped w a nutter butter cookie).  She only brought bout twenty or so minis, which I thought was strange being such a popular bakery.  I also enjoyed the one I got from Sweet Natured Treats (a tropical carrot cake w mac nuts).  I got a large one from there too; pina colada.  I also got a few others that weren’t all that fabulous, but I am looking forward to the ones I’ve got ‘to go’: a twisted rocky road like one and a mint chocolate w oreo (came from the same place Lindsay got her yummy pink lemonade) but I can’t remember the bakery.  I also got a lemon bundt and a maple apple with apple chip from a place out in Mt. Juliet.  And the other half of Lindsay’s cupcake!

After indulging and stashing we shopped some more.  There was soooo many cute things that we both wanted but were a little pricy.  I did buy a trilogy book from some used book store, and I’m looking forward to it.

After shopping there we went to Grn Hills Mall and looked around The Container Store and Charming Charlie’s.  Surprisingly enough I didn’t get any containers!  Can you believe that?!?! I can’t.  There were def. a couple of things I wanted to get, but I resisted.  However, I didn’t do as well in the jewelry store :’( .  I bought three sets of bangles and two pairs of earrings.  I walked out with a sixty dollar dent in my wallet.  I’m  unsure as whether or not I want to keep all of them, I need some convincing!  Oh I forget to include stopping in Nordstrom while Lindsay got her face/eyes done up so she could get her makeup match.  I enjoyed watching all the ladies and looking through the colors.  AND I got a great teeny brush that I’m hoping will help me do manicures.

I’m pumped b/c not only did I have a good day, but Lindsay and I actually had a girls day, a whole day!  That would be my high!

K, I’m ready for bed now, thanks for letting me tell you bout my cupcakes, maybe I’ll go into more details once I eat them…f

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

Today was a much better Tuesday than I’ve had in the last several weeks.  Even though I had trouble going back to sleep after crawling into bed I slept well and felt pretty rested when I woke up.  For bfast I enjoyed a berry medley w some vanilla greek yogurt.

When I got to work I remembered to check my checking account and balanced it and reserved my next book club book from the library.  I somehow got super lucky and there was an available copy to borrow from Green Hills (which I picked up after work!).

We had six out of seven kids today.  My little guy that cries a lot, he did cry, but it wasn’t as intense as it has been the last few times.  I didn’t feel like rocking, or banging my head, or drinking myself into oblivion.  I can only hope that Thursday is better (esp since I’m going out w the ladies).

I successfully entered my TEIDS and three of four of my contact logs for the T/R class.  I enjoyed playing the babies and was responsible on my own the last half hour.  The teachers in the room were nicer than usual.

Oh yeah, the DR brought up last Tuesday.  She didn’t necessarily apologize, but wanted me to know that she didn’t mean to make me/cause me to get upset.  She also commented on not sending me to the IEP and sending my CT instead.  I tried to reassure her that I understood, it just upset me b/c it was the same door I’ve run into several times over the last years.

When I got home I finally took out Izzie’s blanket/mat, cleaned the liter boxes, and prepped lunch and made dinner.  In keeping with facing my responsibility I ate fruit w yogurt (2PPs) for bfast, soup (2PPs) and fruit for lunch, a donut (6PPS) and some vanilla wafers (3PPs) for snack.  For dinner I ate a left over chicken tender (7PPs) w/ some veggie casserole (2PPs) and tomatoes.  For dessert I reheated some cookies (surprising really yummy still) from our inservice I had stored and a piece of chocolate I picked up at Walgreens yesterday.  That totals to at least 22PPs not knowing the number for the cookie and chocolate, which I’m sure put me over my ‘day’s limit’.

Now I need to take care of this silly nail I tore the other day before it drives me batty.  Glad aout little man having an easier day.

Thanks for reading all this, again…

a sort of doomsday for my mouth

Well today was kind of rough.  I didn’t sleep well.  Mom mentioned something about setting me alarm to make sure I woke up on time and I think it but a subliminal message in my brain.  I set the clock in the room and turned on it’s alarm, but I still tossed and turned all night to check the phone and the clock to make sure they were both working.

After getting up and showering I ate a banana for bfast.  I made it to my dentist appointment on time and watched The Black Cauldron (which was funny b/c hubby and I saw a preview on another movie for this and he mentioned wanting to watch it/own it).  I didn’t get too far into the movie before they were done.  Maybe twenty minutes or so.

After the appointment I went to the donut place and bought my CT a bear claw and a boston cream filled one.

Once I got back into N’ville I went to Walgreens take care clinic to get my physical and TB test.  I clocked in at 11:30, and didn’t get done until 1:00.  I didn’t get the TB test done and wasn’t about to wait to do it.  The LPN went on lunch at 1:00, two minutes after I registered for the second appointment.  The DR had messaged me twice by this point so I decided to head to work.

About this time the numbness from this morning started to wear off and I could feel the pain from the drill and shot.  Oh yeah forgot to mention that the dentist removed my old filling and re-drilled deeper to make the new filling.  Also there’s a chance that I might have to have a root canal done b/c of this!  I totally blame the school!!!!  If I could have gotten off in a more decent time frame I could have had it filled sooner which means less decay.  However I know that they won’t pay for it or take ‘blame’.  They’ll say I should switch my dentist to a local one.

I clocked in at 1:33, went to my room for fifteen minutes and then went to the Lions to give their LT the paperwork work time I couldn’t give her on Friday.

I ended the day in the baby room.

By the time I got home I was famished!  B/c of the pain I couldn’t really eat, I couldn’t open my mouth or chew.  I tried eating the chicken in my lunch box, but could only squeeze in cutie segments and squish them.  I’d only eaten the banana, a cutie, and a pear by six.  For dinner I made a package of teriyaki noodles and added chicken and a squeeze of siriachi (sp?) for 7PPs.  I really don’t think my body will miss the points considering how much I ate over the weekend.

K, I’m having trouble staying awake, so that’s why this probably doesn’t make sense, but I’m glad you made it all the way through.  I’m so happy to finally have my tooth filled!

Hope you’ll keep coming back…

finishing my weekend

Not much went on today.  I slept a little later than usual, till about eight or so.  I started to get up and shower, but mom was in there and stayed for a while (she showered and cleaned up the bathroom afterwards).  After I finally did get to shower and get ready we headed to LePantos’ for lunch.  It was actually pretty yummy.  I enjoyed the lasagna and fried rice w some added onions and peppers.  I also really liked the fish.  And of course I ate my fair share of desserts, that’s right ‘s’; more than one!  I know that I shouldn’t but I looked at how much tip David left the server that he knew.  It was 7.00.  The only reason I looked was b/c mom laid down some dollars and he did too.  The tab was around 31.00.  The buffet itself was 9.00, so he basically almost paid for a whole nother buffet.

Afterwards we dropped him off at home to mow the lawn and we went to Wal Mart.  We were there for a few hours while mom shopped around.  I like being able to make her life a little bit more enjoyable.  Once we got back home she cleaned and I relaxed on the carport while reading the first book in the series.

That’s all we did really.  Lay around, relax, watch some movies, and ate dinner: Italian beef, seven layer salad, and brownie ice cream cake for dessert.  I so can’t imagine what the scale has said after eating all this ‘bad’ fattening food this weekend.

Well I’m going to finish watching Dolphin Tale and go to bed.

Best part today was being w mom at Wal Mart.

I hope you’ll come back and find out how my dentist appointment goes…

happy ST. PADDY's DAY!!!

So today was one of the simplest Saint Patrick days I’ve had, or at least that I can remember.

I woke up bright and early at seven and started my day.  Since everyone else was still sleeping or relaxing (Marsha awake but dazzy) I went ahead and showered.  Afterwards I laid around and read more story and checked my email.  It took for ever for the net to load on our ancient laptop, hence the reading simultaneously.

Mom made a wonderfully simple bfast: eggs, sausage, and biscuits.  I had a scrambled egg and halved my biscuit.  Half w gravy and the other half w butter and jam.  Oh yeah I also drank half a 12 cup pot of coffee through out the morning.

The only thing we did all morning was sit around and watch movies.  We watched Breaking Dawn.  I liked it.  I’ve been holding off with the thought that I’d watch it before seeing the other half in the theater.  Aunt Marsha has been living under a theatrical rock: she hasn’t read, watched, or knows anything about the saga.  She kept asking about how it ends and who dies and trying to guess all the situations.  She thinks Bella turns bad.

Around two or so we headed up town to return the due ones, grab a bite from the golden arches, and rent three more movies from the Redbox.  We are watching the third one now.

I didn’t get anything from McDonalds, but did enjoy a nice serving of layered salad and ice cream cake.  For dinner, around eight, I ate a bit of Italian beef w chips and more layered salad.

I think I’ve eaten more ‘bad food’ this week than I have in months!  I’m hoping I do better next week, except for Thursday when I’m eating out w the GNO ladies (if I can afford it!).

Mom did not open either bottle of wine to try, nor did we really have a ‘girls day’ doing our nails like I thought we would.

Guess that’s it really.  The high was just being here with mom.

Hope you guys are being safe on the green holiday…

visiting home

Well today wasn’t as bad as I though it was going to be.

I woke up early, but managed to relax for another half hour before actually having to get up.  Hubby woke up late, which was strange considering I was up and out of the bed making noise; he somehow managed to doze back off.  My fruit salad was yummy.

When I got to work the DR of OR had already made a pot of coffee, it was yummy!!!  The junior league lady brought in spinach quiche, glory morning muffins, and fruit.  The muffins were yummy and the quiche was meaty.  She used a premade, no judging, Pillsbury crust.  The edgy was good, but the bottom was a bit soft.

I didn’t get to do paperwork the first hour.  Instead I let the other teachers get goodies and had to count for ratios.  I was able to work on it for a couple of hours and worked on finding a place to go for my physical.  I’m hoping to go to the ‘clinic’ in Walgreens; they have a discounted rate currently.

I was going to try and relieve the LT in Lions, but wasn’t able.  I thought she was upset w me, but much later I found out that she was really upset b/c her semi-new AT is already leaving!  The AT wants to work part time.

The day was smooth: Rascals, then lunch break and one for me, next up in the toddlers while they napped, from there I went to the infants, and ended my day of paperwork with the Giraffes.  For aftercare I spent thirty minutes w the babies again.

On my lunch break today I managed to get to the liquor store and back in right hat thirty minutes.  I bought an espresso cordial and two bottles of wine to drink w mom his weekend (I’m really hoping we finally get to have our ‘girls’ day – wine and nails).

I got to Paris right at two and half hours.  On the way here I called and talked Aunt Marsha; I wanted to know if they were going to moms too.  She didn’t understand that I was coming in, mainly b/c her phone lost service and she couldn’t contact me again.  Well when I got to moms place the door was locked and they were gone!  I was a bit aggravated, I really needed to go potty.  When I called they were at the video store and headed to get a bite to eat.  I knew that Marsha wanted to take mom out to eat for her bday, but I would have been more than glad to bought my own meal, or even chipped in for the bill.  Since they were uptown I went to the store and picked up a tv dinner and some frozen broccoli.  It cost as much as a combo from a fast food place!

When I got back to moms place they were there waiting on me.  Guess we are all stubborn like that.  I told em’ to just stay and eat, I’d fin for myself.

The broccoli was strange, but the dinner was tasty.  I spent the rest of the evening reading and playing on the net while everyone pretended to watch a movie (they chatted the entire time).

It’s crazy late and I’m excited about getting into bed.  Glad to be here w mom for her bday.

Thanks for ending your celebratory week w me…

quick day

Well today was anther good starting day, but finishing poorly.  I’ve slept pretty soundly in comparisons to the nights from the previous week but woke up clammy since the weather was crazy and 80+ degrees yesterday.  I started my day w a yummy bowl of cantaloupe and cc.  I think I’ve made some pretty good headway on my book I’m in chapter five I think.  It’s a really easy read, kind of like James Patterson’s stories.

Nothing too interesting on the net when I got to work.  We were a kid down today, the guy who cries regularly.  He and his brother were both sick today and mom said the symptoms were CSV like (I think that’s the correct term).  Nothing fabulous on the kids part happened today.

I got to help the AT from the Giraffes class do art with the center.  Kind of strange she needed help really.  All she did was have the kids put tape on paper and then spray with colored water.  There were a couple of kids I did two at a time, but it would have been challenging to do the kids w special needs on my own.  I guess she needed the help b/c she always has it on her normal days.  I’m also kind of curious as to how come she did it today instead of tomorrow, Friday, which is her usual art day?  Guess I’ll never know.

We finished fifteen minutes earlier than scheduled and I sat down to catch up on paperwork.  While doing that the DR called to chat w me.  She informed me that my CT wouldn’t be at the center tomorrow due to meetins she has to attend.  She’s going to a TEIS program about services and two IEP’s.  The IEP meeting upset me a bit.  She’s going for two kids that she didn’t really even work with.  One kid she has only worked w during her afternoons when floating and not even for that long b/c he leaves by 3:30.  The other kid was in our class, but se was on my caseload which means I did all the ‘real work’ with her and she just did a tid bit.  I guess the DR felt like she needed to explain to me why she was going b/c I said something about our teachers attending the IEP b/c we hardly ever get to do it.  I totally understand why the current teacher is going, b/c I mean she is using the IEP and working on it in her room and all, but my CT going?  Why?  Well the DR said the only reason she’s sending her is b/c she was planning on going, but since she can’t be back due to her gpa’s funeral, somebody needs to go in her place.  The LT that’s going hasn’t been to any ever and the DR wants to make sure FS is represented correctly.  And, verbatim out of the horses mouth, my CT has all these ears of experience of working with them so it only makes sense for her to go in her stead.  That was the part that pissed me off.  I would have probably assumed she was going due to ability.  It upsets me b/c I’m not ever given the opportunity to attend IEP’s.  How am I supposed to get the experiences if I’m not given the chance?  The part that’s the most frustrating is I’ve mentioned several times how important I think it is for a current teacher to attend and have shown interest in going, but for some reason don’t ever get the option.  Yet another reason that makes me want to leave them since I’m not getting all the opportunities other teachers have/get.

Well the real reason she was calling, in case I didn’t get to that a moment ago, was b/c she wanted me to make sure that I give all the teachers’ paperwork time.  Oh yeah, forgot to mention (which totally sounds like I’m bitching and can’t be happy to save my life but that’s not the case) the DR asked my CT to stay and close the building down today!  Too strange considering she gets off at 4:30, and I get off at 5:00 and didn’t have anything to do today after work.  So either the DR is pissed at me or thinks I’m really pissed about Tuesday and wouldn’t stay today.  Anyways since I had close to an hour today after four I worked on a bit of paperwork to get ahead from tomorrow.  Not looking forward to the work day at all!

I made pretty good food choices all day.  2PPs for bfast (fruit and cc), 2PPs for lunch (soup), 5PPs for ‘snacks’ (chocolate, veggie sticks, and craisins), 5PPs for dinner (quiche w sausage), and a cookie and a couple more pieces of chocolate as well as several bites of hubbies full fat flavored bfast burrito!

So now I’m ready to prep for beddy bye.

Best thing today was coming home to my wonderful helpful hubby who made me feel better.

Glad you were involved in my day….

Cheddars

Well I’ll tell ya right now this is going to be a ridiculously short post.  I’m too excited to actually take the time reflect on the day.  I just got back from a wonderful dinner w the ladies from my first book club @ Cheddars out in Mt. Juliet (I had chicken tender w FF and a landslide cocktail which is basically a mudslide w lots and lots of melted ‘ice cream’).  You wonder y I’m so excited?  I haven’t mentioned it yet.  I FINALLY got my hands on Carrie’s Hunger Games series!!!!!  OH MEEEE GEEEEE I can’t wait to start reading the first one!

Well let me get to the point and record the most basic parts of my day shall I?

Bfast was a large bowl of fruit salad: cantaloupe, pineapple, and strawberry.  Yes I omitted any carbs or protein b/c I knew I was eating out for dinner.

We started our day with three kids!  The fourth one showed up at 10:30, which was EXTREMELY AGGRAVATING!!!!  She always shows up late anyways but I was irked b/c she was there in time for circle time and lunch, which was with the SLP, nap, and a little bit of play time afterwards b/4 leaving.  So basically we were over priced babysitters.  My lgw/a (little guy w autism) had an awesome day.  He loved being spun in circles and laughed alllllll morning long!  After nap he worked on taking turns w the i-pad and finally got comfortable w turn taking at the very last turn only to have to be all done and eat snack.  He was not happy that I put it away.  Well his mom felt bad that we had/have to listen to his tears, but I’ve tried every way I can to reassure her that it doesn’t bother me; it’s a way to communicate.

I had a fine time in the baby room.  The AT wasn’t here, her son was sick again so the LT wasn’t too terribly rude.  At ten till five the DR came in and asked if I could close the room down.  I couldn’t, since I had plans to have dinner w the ladies.  After a few minutes of talking and to keep this simple and short she was exceptionally rude and told me, her words, ‘I always have the reserved right to make you stay late and close’.  Oh man there’s not enough words to fully express the rage I felt at this comment!  IMO I’ve always, as well as Linds and Aaron, thought the DR/boss/manager was the one responsible for taking duties that couldn’t be covered by staff members, in this case closing, is it not?  Which basically means that if I couldn’t stay she has to right?  Regardless of her need to leave so quickly for some reason.  My friend pointed out that if I had kids I wouldn’t have even been considered to even ask to stay, much less get such a rude comment!  THEN to make it even tastier the EDR came in and could tell I was a little bent out of shape and said something along the lines of we all need to pull together and work as a team to get over things and make it work.  If I didn’t have a moral sensor there would have been some harsh words running out the mouth!  Needless to stay I was there till about 5:18 or so and still had to change clothes, which put me leaving the building the next to last, before the CLOSER!!!!!!!

I got to dinner at a reasonable time and enjoyed myself.  I didn’t start the meal w an adult beverage like I wanted.  Being a ‘chainy’ kind of place they didn’t have anything that ‘screamed’ drink me, other than their painkiller, but I didn’t want to tip the scale, literally – lots of cream of coconut!  Would have been divine I’m sure.

Over dinner I chatted w Jill, Linday’s nail lady, about how to keep my polish from chipping and basically there isn’t a way since it’s my natural nails.  The best advice is to make sure the nails are dried out when painting for ‘soak up’ purpose and keep oiled and moisturized.  All the activities I do with my hand daily wear and tear on the polish – washing, working, typing, cleaning, sorting, playing, etcetera.  Lindsay jokingly put me in charge of organizing a baking event to go w our next book and I’m so going to do it!!!!!

K, now I’m going to read.  PEACE

b/4 I go – best part was dinner, good times, new friends, and books!!!!

Thanks for letting me vent…

together time

Well today was another uneventful day.

Since we haven’t had much time together all we did was cuddle on the couch together and watch TV on dvd.

For dinner I thawed out pork chops and we had them we veggies.  I cut em’ (squash and zucchini) and tossed em w garlic.  I topped it w stove top and sprinkled some cheese.  FAB-UUUU-LOUS!!!

Since there isn’t much to say, I’m signing off.  Glad that I got to spend the whole day relaxing with Aaron.

Thanks for being interested in my humdrum day…

he's back!!!!!

OMG what a long ass f’n day.  I spent a full days of work time shopping at different stores for the best deals.  It def. doesn’t help that I got a bit sidetracked and looked for pleasure items too.

I finally broke down and bought myself an indulgent treat and can’t wait to play with it!  I used a gift card.

Well my hubby’s been out of town for a week and now he’s home.  I’m going to spend some quality time with him!

Best thing about today is hunney is home!

Thanks for reading these sentences.

TGIF

Happy Friday to one and all!  Today was extremely easy.  The school was closed and we had inservice. Before heading to school I had a bowl of strawberries and bananas.  It’s the first time I’ve ever had the combo in fresh from, you know not in ice cream or yogurt.  I liked it.  I think it would be good w some vanilla yogurt over it.

The day was simple.  They served lots of fresh fruit as well as some protein (read pb, chocolate, and oats) bites that were super duper yummy and I’m sure I ate way more than I should have. I opted for the fresh fruit for starters, but swindled myself to the chocolate bowl.

The lady, guest speaker, that spoke first was super interesting.  She was talking about vision and I really wish she could help us w our little guy w CVI.  I did ask her for help and she said she’d speak to a colleague and try to see if she can find anyone.  I’m hoping that I can get someone out to give us some pointers on what we can do in the room and/or I can shadow/learn from someone in their environment and carry it over.  The rest of the lectures were pretty boring and basic, not to mention repeatedly mundane.  I was a wee bit jealous/bothered that the majority of the presentation my CT and our SLP’s pictures in their power point was all about a kid on my caseload that I’ve worked with a gazillion times more than she has and she was in all the shots except one, and that one just had my back.

Also just so everyone knows, mainly for my ability to remember, there was a staff member off today.  I mention it b/c my DR told me I couldn’t have today off, based on her discussion w the HR lady, b/c of the training, but the other person could.  That makes two separate people of exceptions to rules I wasn’t allowed back to back in one week.  I’m not upset b/c we couldn’t have gone on vacation anyways, just ticked that somebody else was allowed off!  The inservice has been planned since last July; and I’m sure that the other staff member didn’t have vacation planned that far in advance.

I made miserable, awful, no good choices about food today.  I tried to behave and ate the protein options w spinach, peppers, and tomatoes, instead of on bread and no chips (except for the one frito I snagged from my CT).  However I went back and had another slice of cheese and two pieces of salami.  I also ate way too many cookies and lots of small bites of candy.

The AT from the infant room was rather rude today.  We had a task to write down what we like most about our jobs and I wrote ‘success’.  She wrote some a sentence about helping parents w babies especially new parents and got lots of ‘awes’ from several people.  Before her ‘awes’ she said something about ‘that’s not a sentence’ which I replied it didn’t have to be, look at the others around us’.  Then she said ‘yeah, but yours isn’t something that happens’.   I know this doesn’t make any sense what-so-ever when you read it, but it really rubbed me the wrong way.  I’m guessing it was the arrogant tone she used when she said it and the addition of all the ‘awes’ that came along with hers.  I love when all the kids have the little every day successes that they do: holding hands to walk, making eye contact to express desire, using a sign for the first time, following a direction; things like that.

The day was over a little after four.  I was going to go by the bank but didn’t feel like it at all so I came home instead.  I cleaned the kitty litter and swept the bathroom.  Then I went through the flyers and coupons to use tomorrow morning.  I remembered that I left some over at my inlaws and need t go there b/4 I head out in the morning.  Aaron comes back mid-day tomorrow!

Also Lindsay msged me today to say she was down w attending the Cupcake Palooza even though it’s on a Saturday afternoon.  I can’t wait: lots of sweets and baked goods.  Oh I should suggest that we use our tickets together and split our cupcakes and stuff, especially if they are normal sized ones instead of mini/bites.

I’ve spent the evening watching House.  For dinner I had string cheese and a juicy orange.  I think I’m addicted the citrus for now.

Glad that the vision lady was so informative.

Have a great weekend…

all the rain!!!

Well today wasn’t that easy, but it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as other Thursdays have been.

I started it w banana bread oatmeal.  TASTY!!!

The new guy had lots of one on one attention today: Five minutes w me, service w the SLP, two minutes w my CT, service w the OT, then lunch for about ten minutes w me.  Next nap and when he got up, technically after nap was over really, played w the PT.  He really aggravated the OT and my CT today, but didn’t get to me as bad.  Strange isn’t it.

For lunch I enjoyed the other half of my can of chili from Tuesday.  Today I splashed in some sirachi and it was the perfect accompaniment.  A sweet and spicy combo.  I snacked on a couple of Pringles and a few Cheez-its.

While in the baby room today I think I finally realized that the two teachers are really rude and secluded.  They aren’t as open and friendly to me, or other outsiders, as they are to one another.  However they are a bit nicer when it’s just one of them and an outsider.  Kind of strange.  I asked my CT if she’d ever noticed and she thought it was just their connection and has noticed it w others.  I guess I just think that since I’m in there so often they’d be nicer and include me more.

I had to go to a classroom at four instead of work on paperwork like I wanted since the infant AT was out.  That gets me on a whole ‘nother rant and I really don’t want to do it again.

For dinner I reheated my left over venison ke-bobs w veggies, yummy.

Also I got two amazing emails today: one for the Iron Fork and one called Cupcake Palooza.  I think Lindsay and I are going to have girl dates to go together!  I’m so excited.  I really hope that IF has discounted tickets, but I doubt it b/c it’s kind of similar to Soup Sunday and that doesn’t ever have discounted tickets.

I’m a bit embarrassed by my actions today and need to let you know.  I said out loud to my CT that I know it’s petty and shameful of me, but I’m glad that it’s raining on the AT’s day off when I was denied.  I don’t remember if I mentioned this or not but the only reason she wanted off was to spend the day w her parents, who are visiting from Canada (I think).  I know it’s a long distance to travel and that’s probably why she got off, however I don’t think they should matter.  Family is family and should all be treated the same, unless it’s fatal.

The best part of the day today was watching my guy w Autism interact w the SLP.

Thanks for reading this short nonsense post…

my new TV obsession

I had the new apple cinnamon Chobani today.  I liked it.  I didn’t stir it and only ate the yogurt off the top.  I like how the yogurt was sweetened a bit w spice too.

We were low in no’s, two kids out of seven were absent.  This also means nothing to complain about, but at the same time nothing super fabulous to report either.

I did however discover today that the infant AT, who’s out on Thursday while the DR is on vacation, only asked off about a week and a half ago and the DR told the HR lady she was allowing the vacation.  That’s some bigger shit and makes me even more angry.  I’d really like to get to the bottom of why it’s okay for her, but not for me.

After work I went by my inlaws.  I was going to play on the net, but got sucked into Cupcake Wars, again.  This time I discovered that I could ‘pin’ some of the recipes.  I couldn’t find the guys from Wicked and emailed him requesting he post it or email it to me.  We’ll see.

I didn’t leave until really late and I’m extremely tired.  My friend Lindsay got her nails done in a pattern I pinned on Saturday w an extra decorative nail and I’m soooooo GREEN W ENVY!!!!  I wish I paid to get my nails done and lived closer to her nail tech.

K, happy point – living vicariously through Linds and her nails addiction I think I created.

Hoping you’ll stick w me….

missing you even more

First things first: Happy Birthday my Little Brother.  Even though you aren’t here with me/us, you are always in our thoughts. I was going to have chocolate ‘pie’ in your honor, but haven’t the ingredients for chocolate so I tried butterscotch.  I wasn’t able to be w mom or dad today, but I know dad visited yours body resting place.  I wonder how you would celebrate it were you here.  Would you call me?  Would you go out?  You could even have a family of your own and celebrate that way.  I’d like to think I’d be a part of it no matter how you choose to greet another year.  I miss you terribly.

Now that I’ve expressed to you the largest thought within me today, I’ll tell you how the day was.  I was able to sleep until five minutes till the alarm went off!  I don’t know if I woke at 3:00 like I have been the last several nights, so I’d like to think I didn’t.  Bfast was ½ serving oats w half a banana and a handful of blueberries.  The banana was sweet enough that I didn’t have to use sweetener, but I did dash a bit of vanilla.  I read way past my regular time, but didn’t want to pause the point in my book.  I still got to work b/4 required, which is good.

I started working on balancing my checkbook again.  I think the joint I ordered my flea meds from charged me an extra 4.00 international fee!  I also got our tax return, need to tell hubs since he was curious the other day.

We only had five out of seven kids.  This morning we had fun matching colored blocks to the colored squares on the carpet.  The little girl who just recently got diagnosed w Autism and has extreme trouble transitioning came in late and mom brought her in.  I tried to get mom to leave ‘rip-the-band-aid-style’ but she didn’t quite get the point.  Instead we got to listen to her daughter scream/cry for fifteen minutes.  However the rest of the day was good.  She sat for circle time and attempted to feed herself w a spoon.  She also took a nap wout her paci.  The kids were gone by five after two and I did one more summary.  Now I only have one more!  And the few retyped/copied IFSP’s from the meetings.

As usual I played w the babies and of course have mixed feelings bout the teachers in there.  Sometimes they can e so nice and others so segregated and only talk btwn themselves.  The after noon was easy and I got to leave right on time.

At home I prepped bfast, lunch, dinner, and took care of the dishes.  I made another cabbage, mushroom, chicken pasta for lunch.  This time I added a few different flavors, hope it’s yummy.  For dinner I roasted some onions and mushrooms.  Then baked eggplant (after salting w seasoning) w the veggie mixture.  To finish it I topped it w spinach and pumpkin/tomato sauce and string cheese.  I was hungry by this point and didn’t want to wait for the cheese to melt so I put it under the broiler.  As I was pulling it out I burnt my knuckle.  Kind of weird looking.  The bake was fabulous!

For dessert I attempted to make butterscotch pudding (instant) but learned after mixing that the pudding won’t set w soymilk, which is what I used.  So I improvised and poured it over ice cubes w some cocoa powder.  Had almost a frosty texture, but didn’t satisfy the taste.

Oh yeah I also realized I was more aggravated w my DR than I thought.  I realized that the AT had to ask off way later than me and either she was allowed off w the DR being off or the DR extended her vacation and the AT already had off.  Does that make sense?

Today’s high was that I made it through another one of his birthday’s with him still w me.

Thank you for staying interested…

back home again

Well today was as nice as yesterday.  I woke up nice and early, seven, on a Sunday.  Upon stirring I woke to lots of noise: talking, yelling, and the damn TV (never realized how much I enjoy a bit of calmness on my weekends).  Mom made bfast and of course it was super fattening: 3 biscuits, a fried egg, a piece of bacon, sausage, and some gravy.  Two of the biscuits I put jelly on.  After showering I got to have coffee w several butter cookies.

I sat around and played on Pinterest and did my nails.  I wish I could post a picture.  Maybe I’ll try later.

We ate a late lunch around 1:30.  We went to Wendy’s and BK.  We got fish sandwiches from both places to compare.  Wendy’s was freshly made and WAY better than BK’s.  I think the one from BK was ‘dead’, it was dark and kind of greasy looking.  Next time I’ll have to order it sans tarter sauce and maybe it’ll be better.

Getting home was easy.   I wasn’t really hungry so I ate string cheese w a juicy apple.

That’s all I’ve got for today.  I wish I was still in Paris w my family, but we go on don’t we.

Hoping you’ll check in tomorrow…
