double date

So this is going to be another short entry (it’s a little late and I’m stuffed, kind of buzzed/tired from our exercise after getting home).

The day started off nice and cold since the heat is messed up.  We found out that Aaron is going to go out of town tomorrow morning and get back in the wee hours of Friday.

The day itself wasn’t too terrible.  We were down a kid, which is nice.  The two newer gals cried and squalled for a while which made it rough.  We also had pictures today so we didn’t gross motor time.  We would have gone outside, but being picture day and a little bit wet from the rain ickiness we opted to stay in.

I had to get my picture taken too.  I’m not buying pictures, but it has to go in the collage frame.  I hope this one is better than the last one.  I felt like my picture was one of the dorky laughing poses (I can’t spell the sound I’m thinking but it’s similar to ‘yuka yuka’, you know with the funny chin face leaning forwards kind of shot?).

After work we had a double date with our friends at Ru Sans.  I got lost and turned around (guess it’s not really lost since I had an approximation of where I was) and took forever to get there (at least it felt like it).  On the way I turned onto Belmont instead of Granny White.  I thought I could take Belmont to Wedgewood but never found it and came out around Vanderbilt and headed/ended up on Edgehill some how.  I knew Edgehill was familiar.  As I was driving down it I saw Taco Mamacita (which I LOVE) and knew where that was, but wasn’t thinking clearly b/c I was frustrated and turned right on 12 S which took me towards Granny White.  Well after turning around at the gas station on Wedgewood I knew exactly where I was and where to go.  However I did have trouble parking b/c I wanted to be cheap.  My friend parked in a 2.00 spot but I couldn’t find it.  Hubby and I ended up parking in my regular lot (the one I park in when I do LBDC events at Sambuca).

I went out of my comfort zone and ordered a ‘Traditional Maki’, which I need to ‘google’ and see what’s in it, even though I’m kind of worried b/c I do have leftovers and if I know what’s in it I might not want to eat it.  I also took Lindsay’s LO, she was just going to throw them away!  Looking forwards to eating them!  Thank you ; )

High for my day: double date!!!!  Hoping we do it more often.

Thanks for listening, hope this makes since…

back to the grindstone

Well today was a pretty decent Monday.  I guess I’m a bit glad to be home maybe?

I slept by myself last night again, not a huge deal.  I do remember I woke up while dreaming, but I can’t really remember what I was dreaming.

I’m a wee bit aggravated at the moment so please forgive me if this entry makes little to no sense.

For bfast I had pumpkin pie seven grain cereal.  I didn’t pack/prep lunch last night so I had to do it before leaving.  I packed instant tofu miso, and some fruits and veggies.

I took the kittens to school today.  The little black and white one, aka Motor by moi, was super adventurous and came out of the carrier and crawled around the front of the car.  She also climbed up on the carrier itself and looked out the window.

Once I got to work I showed the kitties to my CT, who wasn’t too keen on them in general, and then took em’ to the bathroom and let em’ out to play and roam before being locked up in the box for three plus hours.

The day was easy enough.  All eight kids were present, but they had a good day overall.  The little guy who has severe Autism responded to his name at least three times, responded by turning to look and brought me a wee bit of affection.

After the kiddos left I called all of our parents from the T/R class and told them about picture day tomorrow so they could dress their little ones in picture clothes.

After making phone calls I tried to get started on updating my goal sheets and then headed to the babies.  Should I mention that the lady who was taking the cats still hadn’t shoed up at this point in time?  I was starting to worry that she wasn’t coming.  I called her twice today: once at lunch (when she said she would be there) and once at two forty five when I was leaving the back of the building to go play with the babies.  Well she finally showed up at three thirty to get the kitties.  I hope they survive and she keeps in touch so I can see them grow(n).

At five I tried to print our Ru San deals but couldn’t’ get them to print.  I think they were supposed to send the deals to my house, but I haven’t seen them and I ordered them a while back.  I also weighed getting the groupon for Aaron today for the scuba diving certification.  I called my MIL and chatted with her about it and together we decided to not buy it.  Even though my hubby would really like it, I didn’t think he’d ever use the certification.  However now that I know that he can get certified locally, if we ever decide he needs it we can go back.  I also viewed a few Santa suits for Ashley to wear so she can go with me to Santa Rampage and GNO.

When I got home the hubby did he dishes.  I packed lunch (a soup, one that’s named what ever the soup is from Olive Garden, but I don’t know/can’t remember the name currently) and then made dinner for me and Izzie: chicken and veggies (she got rice).  I had three four oz pours of wine and for dessert I’m currently drinking a wonderful cup of pumpkin spiced flavored decaf.

I’m hoping that the silly heat/air problem gets resolved before I go to bed so I’m not freezing my arse off!

High today: I really enjoyed the fun quality time I spent with Aaron b/4 we got into our disagreement about the fan/air/heat.

Mucho gracias for stopping bye…

end of my holiday

Well its kind a wee bit on the later side I’m tired so this will be brief.  Today was good.  What can I say?  I was at home with my dad.  I had a donut with lots of coffee for bfast.  He went to church and I got to play on the net.  I researched rain boots, I’m thinking about asking for a pair for Christmas.

Once he got home we had ham and biscuits.  I ate a spiced peach with mine and it was a wonderful compliment.

Since we ate this at lunch time I ate a slice of the super hard crusted chocolate pie as a dessert.  I also read more of the evil book I started recently.  We watched another movie today and it was much better.  I really like Vince Vaughn!  I was shocked about seeing the other three famous faces in the movie.

After leaving dads I went to moms to get the kittens.  While I was there I snapped at my mom.  I tried to get her to come in to the bathroom to play with the black and white kitty so she could hear it purr and watch it make biscuits, but she refused to come in b/c of the smell.  I got offended b/c I though she didn’t want to come in and share with me and she got frustrated b/c I would take no for an answer.

The kittens did really well on the drive home.  They just slept/relaxed and didn’t make any noises (so unlike my kitty).  The little black and white one is super sweet.  It let me pet it and purred and made those biscuits and the stripped one hunkered in the corner (I think it was made that mom gave it up).

The high for me today would be quality time with dad and finding some rain boots in hopes to ask for.

Glad you stopped in to view the end of my Turkey weekend…

Thanksgiving w dad

Today was much better than yesterday.  I woke up nice and early to Mike/Sparky’s crazy ass alarm.  It was a real alarm, like a car alarm on his phone.  I left mom’s by eight and called dad.  He asked me to stop by and pick up some donuts.  I did.  I got some apple fritters, bear claws, long johns, éclairs, and butter rolls.  (I really wish that N’ville had an amazing place like this.)  I also stopped by Wal Mart to get some movies and a few ham steaks for bfast/brunch/lunch tomorrow.

Once I got to dads we sat and drank some coffee and ate our hot fresh baked donuts.  I also helped prep some items for our Thanksgiving meal.  I stuffed the olives and used the icing bag which was a PITA to begin with but got easier as time passed and I got into a groove.

The meal was turkey, dressing, scalloped pots, corn (which I learned the secret: half roll of frozen cream half a can or maybe a whole can of kernel with butter, sugar, and s&p), green beans, rolls, deviled eggs, and olives.  For dessert we had chocolate pie.  Uncle Mike really f’d up the crust.  He said it was b/c he put in two eggs.  The crust was so hard I couldn’t cut it using a sawing motion with the knife.  I had to break it apart.  It tasted yummy but was def. hard to physically eat.

We ate around four.  The day went by way too quickly!  I wish I had more time to spend with em’.

My high: daddy time!

I hope you had a nice thanksgiving weekend too….

PLEEEAAAASSSSEEEEE

Someone please help me!  It's Black Friday and def. one of the WORST FRIDAY's in a while.

I did join the masses and participated in shopping in the wee hours.  I went to Sears, which opened at four (am) and bought a shop vac for dad.  Then we (my cousin Tommy) went to Freds where I got a dvd player for mom, a scarf set for Chloe, and a generic ipad for Tommy.  Next up was Wal Mart (I did not do the crazy midnight shopping).  I spent 250.00!!!! All on movies/dvd's!  I got lots of seasons (True Blood, Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, and SG Atlantis) and several movies.  Oh and some zombie thing for Aaron.

Home was easy, I just played on the net.

We decided to go to McKenzie so mom could look at tables and I discovered that gdaddy is one of the MOST stubborn man alive that I've met.  He was driving.  I was using my GPS and it told us to turn left out of the drive (which I told him to do) but then extremely soon afterwards it said make a legal u-turn asap.  I told him and then told him I was looking at the atlas and it says we were going the wrong way too.  I tried to get him to turn around at least in seven spaces but he refused to take my word on it.  He had to call David and ask!  Well then we all had a good ol' time picking on one another.

Shopping wasn't that awful.  Mom wants a new dining room table and end tables.  However she is going to spend way too much on them.  I tried to tell her she should look online or in N'ville, but she refuses b/c the lady is nice and she wants to buy from her and supposedly they don't charge shipping.

Once again in the car gdaddy and I butted heads about directions.  He asked me which way to go and I didn't know.  I didn't have the GPS on nor was I paying attention to where we were or which way he had gone!  (Now that I"m typing this I wonder what his astrological sign is, I totally bet it's a Leo!, maybe a Virgo - but that meas we should get along really well.)

On the way home we all had a wonderful discussion about servers and whether or not they deserve tips and they should all be paid minimum wage!  IMO if a server gets minimum wage they wouldn't bust their ass to get you refills or to keep you happy (I know I wouldn't, the only reason to be the best is to get more $) and you better damn well enjoy and savor that glass of rootbeer b/c it's the only one I'm gonna get ya.  My cousin said some arrogant statement about how they would get him his refills or he'd go get it himself in the kitchen!  Then he said he won't ever tip a server when he gets older and goes out to eat.  Then I, probably taking it too far, said he'd never have a girlfriend (I really wanted to say at least a self respecting girl).  Then we somehow digressed to steak and steakhouses and Ponderosa and Cracker Barrel.

I really think gdaddy either doesn't think I have a clue as to what I'm talking about or he enjoys not listening to me.  When we got back in to Paris I said he should turn at the next road and he just kept on driving!  He finally listened and we went to Wal Mart.  Yes I know, you're probably thinking 'why on earth are you going back?".  Well my wonderfully spoiled over indulged family member decided to take his purchase back (even though I suggested he wait to have an adult take a look at it to see whether or not it worked).  That got us into a wonderful, semi heated conversation about returning things and money transactions and what not.  He thought that the store would refuse to give the money back and make us buy stuff at the same price (b/c supposedly they do that to him all the time!).  I really think he just wanted the money.

On the way home I tried to quietly talk to mom about ice cream (my tummy was upset, so upset that grilled cheese sandwiches made it turn funny!).  She didn't get the subtle hint about keeping on the DL and gdaddy heard.  We had to stop at the store for bread and he was kind enough to get two half gallons of ice cream (caramel and banana split - I ate the first, just a wee bit).

Back at the house mom decided to make chili (this was the third mind change about dinner in the last twenty four hours mainly to please previously mentioned special family member b/c he hadn't eaten anything in the last twenty four hours other than a roll and a huge bowl of ice cream).  She asked him if he liked it spicy or not and he didn't care.  Good thing I heard her b/c if she'd added the spice I'd bet an appendage that he would've said something and gone without eating again.  Supposedly chili is his favorite meal and thats why mom changed her mind again.  The chili was pretty yummy, it kind of tasted like sloppy joe.

At this point I chatted with my wonderful hubby and he made me feel so much better and calm.  I'm thankful for him and hope he knows how much.

After our phone call I went into the living room and we watched 27 Dresses, at least tried to. We made it fifteen minutes to the end and David came home.  Sometimes I really think he can't do things for himself.  I tried to get mom to stay/come back and finish but she had to fix the chili for him and then they talked about the furniture.  She missed the ending and didn't even bother to ask how it ended.

After the movie ended she came back in and we all had to talk about the end tables and I lost my cool once again b/c everyone had to talk over everyone else and wouldn't stop interrupting (which they do a lot of) one another and listen to what I was trying to tell them.  I feel bad afterwards b/c mom sometimes seems really sensitive and gets upset.  I don't mean to upset her or lose my cool I just wish the family was more polite.

It's ten thirty and I've been desiring, longing, needing a glass of wonderful red, but have been waiting for someone to go to bed.  I don't understand why on earth he's still awake.  Last night he went to bed around eight or so!  I actually feel kind of light headed, lack of sleep and bad food and frustration; so I'm sure I don't need the red.

Honestly don't know if I have a true high for today.  I really enjoyed my cuddle time with mom for part of the movie.

Thanks for letting me take all this time to ramble...

one more day!!!

Well today was a pretty decent day.  I slept in our bed by myself (so Aaron could have some quality time with Izzie) and had a solid night’s sleep!  It’s the first in a really really long time.  I didn’t necessarily have bad nights this weekend, but they weren’t solid ones.

While eating bfast (cherry vanilla yogurt w a banana) I balanced my checkbook and paid a couple of bills.  I discovered that the bank says I have less money than I do.  It’s strange, this is the first time I’ve had more than them in several months, maybe a year even!  I also realized that we were charged three bucks extra by the gas department this month!  I meant to call them today.  We haven’t turned our heat on yet so I don’t know why it’s extra?  Do you have ne idea?

When I got ready I used the new leave-in conditioner treatment again.  I think I might like it.  After blow drying my hair though it feels really thick, almost as if it’s kind of dirty.  I’m trying to figure out how to put it in my hair so it’s more easily spread out.

Even though I was a bit rushed making/packing lunch and what not I still made it to work a little early, with the rain and backed up traffic and all!

The first thing I did at ‘the office’ was print November and October’s purchases off the banks website.  I tried to put recycled paper into the printer but for some strange reason the machine didn’t use that try, it used the try with fresh paper.  That’s what I get for trying to intentionally trying to ‘save the world’ with my re-using, huh?!?!

The day was easy enough again.  The kid with all the tube feeding problems was absent again today.  She and her family went out of town for the Holiday.  I don’t know why, but I’m secretly (not so much since I’m letting you know) glad she hasn’t been here in several days.  It’s kind of a high attendance ‘case’/family/needs.  I love the mom, but not everything we’ve got to figure out!

My CT and threw our December’s LP together pretty quickly today.  I think we filled all of it in except for about four spaces?  I’m excited, at the end of the month we are going to make ‘gingerbread’ houses using milk cartons painted brown and decorate them with the regular candy pieces AND invite the families to join us for decorating and eating cookies!

The only rough part of the day was trying to make sure all our “thankful” gifts were done by the kids so they could go home today before the Holiday )it is Tuesday and these kids won’t be here on Thursday, obviously).

At the end of our day I got to play with the babies as usual.  At four, my scheduled time to go to the Giraffes, I was fortunate enough to stay in the babies.  The Giraffes only had six kids.  I usually don’t mind going in there, however one of their kids has lice!  The kid with the lice actually was sent home, but I still didn’t want to go into the room!  Would you?  Especially since I don’t know all that much about lice.  I’ve been told that it/they gravitate to clean hair, black people don’t get it, and if you’re hair is nice and dirty then they can’t ‘grip’ on and hang around) ha, I’m trying to joke about it can you tell).

The hubby took out ground venison for dinner.  He browned it to make Mexican.  He ate burritos and I made a Mexican inspired chili/soup.  I’m counting it as 9PPs, 7 for the venison and 2 for the salsa/beans/cheese.  It would have been even better with sour cream and possible some torn tortillas.  Aaron thinks it’s more like a chili since it wasn’t too watery.  To make it more soup-y it would need more broth/liquid.    I liked it though and enjoyed it with the merlot I bought last time at the store.

High for me today, wait I forgot to tell you that my new friend Allison texted me and asked for an impromptu drink/dinner night, but I couldn’t.  I’m glad to see I can still make a friend, that’s a whole other IMO post I could write.  Back to my high: a good day at school all around.
Thank you for reading this long ass entry…

an awesome start to the week

Well today was pretty decent.  Bfast was yummy: cranberry almond oatmeal!  When I finished I put cottage cheese in it and mixed to get the last taste out of the bowl and gave it to Izzie.  She loved it!!!  I was shocked she ate cc.

I got to work with enough time to play on the net to check/delete all my old emails from this weekend.

The day was nice and easy.  We were down two kids!  Which means we only had six!  Our little guy with severe Autism had one of the best days eve-a!  He ate his three pieces of chicken nuggets!  I had to peel the batter off, but that’s okay by me.  I’ve almost gotten to the parent point to where I’ll jump through hoops to get the little man to eat real food instead of cookies and crackers.

There was a little bit of leftovers from Friday and I ate some, literally just a little: sweet potato casserole and dressing with some cake and a few bites of cheese, turkey and fruit.

Nothing spectacular happened in the baby room.  I did stay there until I left instead of going to a different room  however I think that’s happened almost every Monday and possible Wednesday too (even though I don’t typically journal on those days).

The hardest part of my day was when hubby called b/c he couldn’t catch the kitties at my mom’s house and didn’t know what to do.  It was frustrating mainly b/c he called at a high point of frustration time at school and the phone was stupid and his phone battery was stupid; too many negatives against him for me to keep calm (maybe next year I should make that my resolution: remain calm in times of frustration and think things through).  Doubt I’ll remember that in a month and a half.

N-E-ways, hubby was home when I got there, he hadn’t been there long, just an hour if even.  For dinner I ate veggies and duck.  I had to make Izzie some extra rice for the next couple of days with some more chicken, so I decided to add veggies too and ‘steamed’ enough for me.  I’m not looking forwards to what the scale says after all my goodies and tastes today as well as the few bites of rice and pasta I ate out of Aaron’s bowl.

Today my high was that my hubby has come home for a few days.

Thank you for checking in on me on this Monday beginning a Holiday week…

Sunday, November 20, 2011

just a chill day

Well today was another easy Sunday.  I didn’t sleep in, but got to relax.

While relaxing I read a few chapters of Inkheart and then talked to mom.  I think I realized something today but really hate admitting it out loud: sometimes when I talk to my mom it makes my head go bonkers.  Not her mind you, but the conversations.  Today we talked about her fish and tank and dinner/meal plans for this holiday weekend.  It’s not so much her as it is the conversation itself.  She cracks me up repeating the same thing multiple times and not always in different ways.

I didn’t talk to dad today, he’s been hunting and while he was home took a nap (and I was actually out shopping at the time).  I managed to keep the spending down, which is unusual for me. I spent the most money at GFS on stuff for mom and snacks for Thanksgiving.

Back home I vegged and watched Seinfeld.  I made Izzie brown rice and beef (which I bought today) and gave her two servings.

I ate my leftover Thai dish and enjoyed my new wine I bought recently.  For dessert I finished off my biscotti and had some decaf.  Speaking of coffee I did splurge and bought two more seasonal flavored coffees at Aldi’s.  While I was there I checked their circular for next week and noticed my favorite dried fruit is back!

That’s really it for today, oh yeah, Izzie seemed okay today.  She stood up for the first two hours while I read my book and chatted.  When I got home she actually laid in bed with me.

Now I’m done, my high: the flavored coffees.

Love that you stopped by today…

the upside

Well Izzie is okay, thankfully.  When I first woke up her legs weren’t that bad and I thought I’d get away without having to take her, but while is showered she decided to stand outside the door.  I noticed her right leg tremor a little and when I got out it was swelling again, so off to the vet we went.

I should have had an appointment, guess that’s what I get for listening to the hubby.  I got there around eight thirty and they scheduled me for nine twenty.  I couldn’t sit in the parking lot: one it was full and there wasn’t room for other people to park and two b/c I really didn’t want strangers to see me crying (so if I was busy I wouldn’t cry b/c I’d be distracted).

To pass the time I stopped at Kroger and picked up some tangerines, yogurt, and something wonderful: pumpkin spice powdered creamer!!!!  I wish it would have been the store brand, but they didn’t have any.  So I spent the little bit extra and got the name brand.  Then I popped into Aldi’s for my berries and veggies.

The vet went better than I thought it would.  They did some blood work and the results should come back in on Monday.  The outcome was to up her meds and put them on a more strict regime, a low sodium diet, and rest with elevation if possible with w a few minute walk every so often.

Afterwards we came home and I tried to get her to lay in bed with me, but she just wanted to la on the floor next to the bed.  I told hubby bout the low sodium diet and he did a bit of net research and found out she can have oatmeal, pumpkin, peas, ground chicken/turkey/and low fat beef, brown rice, and peas (that’s all I can remember and he’s sending me the rest via email).

Other than that we jus lay around all day into the evening watching Seinfeld.

For dinner I ate the rest of my Mongolian BBQ and for dessert I had some pumpkin dump cake left over from yesterday.

High today: Izzie being better than I thought.

I appreciate you checking in on our doctor visit….

not so TGIF

Well right now I’m a bit on the panicky side.  I’m going to make you read through my day, or you can jump all the way to the bottom and find out.

Bfast was tasty.  I got to work pleanty early.  I put toe socks on and since my shoes were outside in the car from my night last night I had to wear smaller shoes and my toes were kind of numb and tingly from the combo of socks and small shoes.

During the morning I got caught up with almost, at least of ninety percent, of my to-do list.  I called my ‘mom’ and had a nice conversation with her.  She was okay with getting a PT eval for her little guy and is going to call her Service Coordinator to get the ball rolling.

We had a Thanksgiving luncheon/potluck and it was yummy.  I didn’t eat any turkey or potatoes, but indulged in sweet potato casserole, spoon bread, dip, crackers, deviled eggs, and lots of sweets (chess squares, pecan pie, pumpkin dump cake (which I’m hoping is similliar to this recipe), and some sort of brownie and an amazing buttery sugar cookie).

I grazed on sweets all day long and wasn’t too hungry for dinner time, but still ate.  First thought when I arrived home I discovered Izzie had gotten down in the den and couldn’t get out.  I had trouble helping her up.  Ater helping her I noticed both of her hind legs swollen, double in size!   I freaked out and called aaron and tried to use my calm adult voice.  However I went to his parents house for dinner and play on the net and had to admit that I wanted to murder/beat him for not taking her to the vet.  He said that it wasn’t that bad when he left at nine this morning.  So now I have to watch her legs and possible take her to the vet in the morning.

I played on the net at the in-laws and made it through my back blogs and got rid of the foodgawker accounts I don’t want to look at.  One of my ‘bloggers’ posted an amazing recipe for gingerbread lattes and, since Carolyn had all the ingredients (exept for molasses which I subbed brown sugar corn syrup) we made it.  It was super yummy and will be made again and again.

High today: not sure I have one.  Let me think about it.  Eight minutes later – came close to completing my to-do list.

Have a great weekend...

ladies night

Well it’s extremely late, sort of, and I’ve had a couple of drinks, and I’m tired.

The day was okay.  We were down one kid, the kid with the ‘feeding tube’.  I got to play with the Rascals, long time no play since all the scheduling has been wonky.

After work I met with the girls from my group at Rumba and had a blast!  I tried the guacamme (guac and edamame) and their nachos.  I ordered the satay with broccoli for dinner with a glass of amazing red wine.  I love he broccoli.  Next time (maybe on Monday – mojito Monday’s) I’ll order the corn salad thingy.  For dessert I ordered there Somoa Martini – chocolate, coconut, with caramel.

Lame I know, but that’s all I’ve got for ya.

High today: fun night with the ladies.

Thanks for continuing to read long and short entries…

new kids first day

First things first, I’m having to put my phone on the charger here in a minute.  I know you’re wondering why on earth I mention this, but I really want to remember how often I have to put it on.  I sometimes feel like (Aaron’s favorite saying of mine) the battery dies way too quickly.

Now on to my day.  I finally ate the W yogurt for bfast with a banana.  I’ve been avoiding it b/c I wanted to save it for a dessert treat instead, but all I had left was that or vanilla chai and I didn’t want that this morning.  Since I didn’t make/pack/prep my lunch last night I had to do it this morning.  I packed fruits, veggies, and my miso soup I picked up on Sunday.

I left the house early so I could actually play on the net on purpose.  The net though is being really strange.  I’ve looked at the same entries the last several days, but for some reason goole reader isn’t recognizing it and I’m reading them over and over again.

Before the kids arrived I finished the AD art project so our kids could do their turkey handprints.  What a pain.  I had to retype all the info so the font would match and say the right thing.

The day was super easy.  We only had five of the eight kids.  Three of them were sick.  We had our new friends tart today and she did amazing!  She still made me really nervous b/c of her diagnosis, but she knew to be strong and grab tight when needed.  The only time she cried was when she got woke up from nap and didn’t really want to go back to bed.  I tried several techniques to calm her; the only thing that work was rocking her bottom.

After the day was over I got to play with the babies.  One of the little guys who is unusually fussy and I thought wouldn’t do so well developmentally is sitting up by himself!  He’s six months old!  The other little guy who is the same age is too squishy to do it and just kind of slumps over so I spent the majority of the time having him work on neck and core strength.

After playing with the babies I headed towards the Giraffes.  On the way to the gym to meet up with them the AT in the monkey’s room stopped me and asked me a tech/computer/document question.  Surprise surprise I was able to help her!  I also taught her how to insert a document from her jump drive to send in an email (she had been saving files on her desktop and emailing that way).  Then I played with the kids in the Giraffes while the AT in that room went and did paperwork.  The last hour was easy enough.

Hubby wasn’t home when I arrived which threw me off just a bit, but we worked past it.  I put the dishes away and made/prepped lunch for tomorrow: pineapple, black berries, apple, pear, chicken and chickpea soup.

For dinner I sautéed cabbage, apples, and onion.  Then tossed it with balsamic vinaigrette, honey, and chili pepper.  It was good.  I thought about adding duck to it, but opted for a half glass of wine.  I think the mixture would be really good with pork.

I also want to get down that I think I had a great realization on the way to work this morning.  I think subconsciously I haven’t allowed myself to want babies/children b/c deep down I know that I’m not going to be able or at least have lots of trouble conceiving on my own and I don’t want to put myself through that emotion turmoil.  I think that people who have it ‘easy’ are the ones who think *we’ll have them if it’s in the cards* and the people who really really want them have to work at it so to speak.  Does that make any sense?  Please if you read this let me know!

High for today: newbie’s smooth transition.

Glad you stopped by and hopefully will comment…

made-up/impromptu dinner date

Well this is going to be another short entry.  I’ve been up since close to four ish or so.  Izzie had a rough night and I did too.  I got up with her and walked around, went outside, ate and drank a midnight-ish snack.

I was really out of it all day.  The day was easy enough.  I had to do the art project the AD created.  It was a turkey hand print, which we already had planned; however she had these cute little sayings/quotes pasted.  The only problem with the blurbs were they weren’t accurate for all the kids.  It says ‘to mommy and daddy’, but not all kids have mommies and daddies.  I realized this when I went to do one of my little guys prints and remembered that his mommy and daddy are going through a divorce; soooo his paper needed to just say mommy.  To make it work I just hand wrote it in.

Then I played with the babies of course.  At four I went to the giraffes.  There were ten kids in the room!  That’s quite a bit, but that’s how many there are supposed to be regularly.  Luckily enough three left so I could leave at five.

After work Aaron and I decided to meet at the Thai place and have dinner.  Before hand I stopped at the in-laws to play on the net for ten minutes.  I mentioned how behind I am on my entry readings and Carolyn said we should just get the net.  I kind of think she’s a little aggravated about me coming over to play, but I really haven’t been there in over a month.  Aaron said she only said that b/c I told her how far behind I am.  He doesn’t think she cares, since I’m not making them get off or bothering them so to speak.  I try not to even eat or drink their food (even though they always say I can) other than water and coffee.

After dinner I was going to go back to their place to play on the net, but he let me know that he’s going to Paris this weekend to hunt so we decided to spend some quality time together and I’d get caught up this weekend.

We are watching the fourth Pirates of Caribbean and I really want to close my eyes.  So I’m going to end it here.

High today: dinner impromptu date with hubby.

Glad you read about my Monday…

finally, a day of rest (almost)

Guess what, lucky you, this is going be an extremely short entry!

The day was super short and boring.

I got up at my regular Sunday time.  Then showered and called my dad.  We talked for an hour and then I headed about my day.

I went to the store and bought some theme/seasoned totes for all our decorative junk as well as necessary items.  I also got some base coat clear polish hoping that it helps my polish stay on my fingers longer!

Once I got home we settled in and watched the last disc of Hero’s Season 3 while I sorted decorations and put them in the box.

For dinner I/we roasted a duck (thank you Aldi’s for offering such a great deal).  It was wonderful.  Aaron said duck was like lobster is to crustacean.  I think it’s like fillet mignon of chicken!  Aaron roasted some red potatoes and made steamed veggies.  I also had a coupe glasses of the Syrah hubby got me from NY.  So yummy!!!  For dessert I just had a nice cup of decaf.

That’s all I got for ya.  Told you it’d be dull.

High for me today was quality time with my wonderful mate.

Hoping you’ll keep coming back to read about my life…

shopping day

Today seemed to be one of the longest shopping days ever, for me.

I thought I would have enough time to dilly dally before heading out, but it got away from me and I rushed off to the Christmas Village.  I met the AD there and then we went about our way once we got inside.  She actually spotted me while sampling the hot cocoa and tea booth and we chatted for a bit.

I found several gifts: Lindsay’s, Ashley M.’s black and green earrings, my Uncles, FIL, an amazing braclet for Carolyn as well as some things for myself.

Afterwards, damn near close to five, I headed to B.B.&B. to exchange my aprons and bought mom’s spice rack, the oven guard, some oven mits, and a few other things.  Then I headed to Ross’s and returned the cookie cutters.  It was the first time I didn’t find anything to buy there!

Hubby didn’t get off till late and finally made it home close to nine.  So I ate my left over Mongolian BBQ and he didn’t eat anything.  We were going to go to the Thai place, but life happens.

High for today is finding some amazing gifts.

Glad you stopped by today…

wasted TGIF

Not sure I can say TGIF today.  It wasn’t a bad day, just long.  For bfast I had banana and a yogurt.  Ms. Christi picked me up right on time and drove us to our meeting.  She took some crazy long back road way.  We actually ended up arriving about five minutes late, but not a huge deal since other staff members were late too.

The first seminar was about traumatic brain injury (TBI) and extremely interesting.  Since 1996 there’s a register of people who, if have an accident and have a TBI and are in the hospital for 24 hours, are documented.  Also the program is helping families become aware of the effects of BI’s incase a person has an accident and it’s not bad enough to stay in for 24 hours.  Made me extremely curious if I’ve had TBI considering ho many accidents I’ve had.

Next up was an education on domestic violence.  I also learned quite a bit in there too.  The lady giving us the training has been doing it for over a decade.  She asked a question – what’s the most common question asked of people abused? *answer – why didn’t she (victim) leave?*  Then she asked – what should people ask? I was the second person in her career to ask the ‘right’ question – why did he abuse her.  Pretty exciting that I knew it.

Then up box lunch from Subway.  They had turkey, roast beef, and veggie sandwiches.  I chose the last one thinking I needed some.  However once opened there was only a pile of lettuce, four sliced olives, and two extremely thin sliced tomatoes.

The last part of the day was a lecture from some lady talking about building character in our children.  Not to praise them for everything they do, but helping them learn right from wrong and want to do right.  There’s really no good way of describing what she talked about.

I wasn’t feeling all that great once I got home (Ms. Christi’s driving made me a little whoozy – or maybe it was all the coffee throughout the day) so I dozed a little bit.  Aaron came home late and wasn’t really hungry so we made single peeps dinner.  I had his jambalaya and he ate his Vietnamese leftovers from lunch.

High today: not having to really work, maybe?

Hope your weekend is good, thanks…

I'm back

Well I don’t seem to be doing all that great with recording my entries on a regular basis.  I skipped Tuesday.  I’m not a hundred percent sure why, just did.  Then I didn’t bother to take the time to post a simple picture yesterday.  Also I’m ridiculously behind on viewing all my subscribed blogs.

So let’s remember today shall we?  Started the morning off with mango and vanilla carbmaster for bfast while reading and petting Izzie.  For lunch I packed a soup from these guys and some fruits (no veggies since there should be some in the soup).

I managed to get to school ten minutes earlier than usual.  I finally found someone to sell my second ticket to Christmas Village to only to find out that when printed it’s only one paper voucher and that the two people must enter the gates together!  So for the next thirty minutes or so I searched for a person who wanted to meet at the gates on my time but want to shop separately.  Luckily enough the AD at the school said she was interested.  I know weird, huh?!?!  It’s not like we will actually be shopping together, but she is one of the few people I know that love things I love and is an early bird (come to think about it we have so many similarities that those may some of the reasons we’ve clashed in the past).

The day went well enough.  We were down two kids: one couldn’t come b/c of her tube feeding machine (that’s what Tuesday’s entry would have been about – the machine/bag was/is busted and required me (and my helper) to hold the stupid button down for a whole hour!  Not appropriate or feasible for working!  The other kid hasn’t really even started yet, she was waiting to start today, but has/had a temperature so she didn’t.  The little guy who I’d like to call ‘thickness-with-snowball-squishy-head’ was extremely obstinate and refused to obey any one’s statements upon the first request!

The AD allowed me to get out and do paperwork from 3:15 to 4:00.  You ask why I was able to get out at that time?  The person who I usually relieve during that time was/is off on vacation so I was technically free to be used and asked if I could use the time since mine was cut on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning as well as all of it taken on Wednesday afternoon!  I didn’t get all that much done (the ED came and chatted with me about the news of the AD being ‘let go’).  At 4:00 I went in and played with the Giraffes.

After work I stopped by the IL to pick up the flea market friendly shopping cart to take with me to the Village on Saturday.  FIL made an apple pie from the Arkansas Blacks with a little bit of Southern Comfort in the mix.  After sampling a few bites he added a slice of cheese on top, which of course I had to try.  It was neat.  I’d definitely try it again (especially since I just found a recipe about shredded cheddar being in the crust).  I also checked online to see if here were any Ross’s and B.B.&B. close together, and the one I could think of is the only one (out in Hermitage).  So hopefully I’ll finish early enough at the village to go to these places.

At home I ate an apple and chatted with dad about how to roast again.  I always forget (considering I’ve only done it once).  However this time I wrote it down and stuck it in a cook book.  I’m planning/wanting/fully intend to make the duck we bought at Aldi’s this past week when it was on sale.

For dinner I had the butternut squash, thanks to Aldi’s again, seasoned with a sprinkle of curry seasonings and the scrapings from hubby’s chili can.  I liked the additions!

While eating we continued to watch our newest TV on DVD that we started last night.  I actually remember the fourth episode from season 1!

High for today: no kids tomorrow – we have an inservice instead.

Merci, have a good one…

omg, another day down (ground praying like motion here guys)

Well I’m sooooo glad that today is over!

Hubby didn’t get my phone for me last night (he usually does when it’s on the charger) so I’m glad I heard it vibrate across the room.  It was just the second time it went off, so I was only up five minutes late.  Bfast was spiced pear carbmaster with a banana.  Packing lunch was easy since I put it in containers last night.

I got to work a little early and was able to update our Netflix account.  Next up on the queue: Medium season one through seven.  Once I clocked in I attempted to print off the LP’s only to discover my CT’s f-up!  What a great way to start a Monday morning.  She said that she created the LP’s for the whole month of November while I was on my mini vacation.  When I opened the drive the folder labeled November had four plans, in red, all saying the same thing.  So I looked for my paper copies to at least get an idea about the day, but couldn’t find it.  Finally I noticed the other folder labeled Nov. and opened it.  Well she did week one, week three, and week four, but week two said the exact same as week three; which meant there wasn’t any LP’s for this week!  Since I was running a bit on overdrive this realization set me over the edge.  I said something to the DR about it and she was okay with it.  The floater chick in the room came up with a good idea: just use the LP that’s available and swap plans.  Maybe tomorrow I’ll get a chance to look at it and see if that will work.

The majority of the day was okay.  We only had six kids out of eight.  Out little guy that has severe Autism on Mon/Wed had a roller coaster of an emotional day.  He had a good start, the OT let him swing, and we had to take him out, he calmed for lunch, babbled for a bit on his mat, I went on my lunch, he wound up to top height while I was gone, and when I got back I realized he was hot so I helped him cool off.  Simply stated (I guess anyways).

I’m working really hard on not having lengthy conversations with the mom who likes, no strike that, LOVES to hang out and talk for close to twenty minutes.

Since I was able to complete daily notes and enter TEIDS during nap time I checked my emails and tried to find some trainings to attend.  I’m thinking about going to the one on the 19th that Applebaum is hosting.  There sabot fives sessions and only one of them is really interesting or relevant to my needs.

I played with the babies as usual. And then headed to the Giraffes till five.  I actually got off on time today!  I spent most of the hour sitting with their new friend from the Monkey’s (Julia) who isn’t transitioning very well.

So frustrating today: stupid polish!  Last night I painted my nails.  I used the anti-chip coat as a base (thinking it would make the manicure last longer) then two coats of color and another anti-chip as the top.  I’ll be damned if it didn’t help!!!!  Instead of the polish chipping it just peeled off in one solid skin, kind of strange actually.  The floater with me today said she likes to buff/file them to be rough and then paint.  I’m going to try it next time.

The hubby and I teamed and did a bit of cleaning: he took out trash, I put away dishes, he washed new dishes, and I made lunch and dinner.

I have to admit that I made poor eating choices today.  I snacked on chex mix beyond my ability to keep up with it.  I also ate a few pieces of candy.  For dinner I at the left over Cajun shrimp with broccoli and a roll.  I tried more decaf  instant coffee for dessert drink.

With dinner we watched a really cute movie.  I think Angela Basset is super gorgeous for her age (even though I don’t know it for realz right now) and I love the ladies who played Jason’s family.  Now we are watching the cliffhanger episode of Hero’s and then off to bed.

High today: day two down, one more to go.  The new kid with a connective tissue disorder doesn’t start tomorrow.  She will start on Thursday when my CT is back.

Thanks for listening…

home again

Today was uneventful as a Sunday can be.  The time changed back last night so I got an extra hour of sleep!  Not that I needed it since I went to bed around eleven thirty and it was close till ten (which was really eleven b/c of the time change).

Since I slept in I didn’t call dad.  I had every intention to call mom again today but time just got away.  When I woke up I started the laundry and then made an apple/pear crisp.  I had pumpkin coffee with it while reading a little bit more.

I was going to read until the end of my CD, but hubby came home so we spent some quality time together.  We cuddled for a bit and then started our day of lounging.  We’ve just watched episode after episode of tv on dvd.

I attempted to use my new fashion toy.  I’m not sure I like it.  The disc wobbles when my finger goes into the slots and the heart handle is in the way.  I pulled the heart out and held the disc in my hand for stability.  I think I could use the toe dividing thingy’s the pedicurist use and get the same effect.  I’ll try next time and if it works I’ll take mine back (but still keep moms and give to her).

For dinner I had another helping of my roast and cabbage.  I forgot to mention that hubby brought hom a bottle of Cab. that his boss gave him.  It was actually pretty yummy after the first few sips.  The first one was really fruity and the second had a lot of alcohol on the tongue.  However once I got through the first few sips I enjoyed it (it could help that it was my second four ounce pour).

I also ate half a piece of chocolate and one of Aaron’s left over dinner rolls.  I’m guessing my consumption today is aver 28, but hopefully not too bad.

Also I saw Seth Green was in an episode, two actually, of Hero’s.

Now I’m craving some spiced cider/tea flavored, but my belly is extremely full.

The high today was my hubby coming home!

Thanks for continuing on my daily living…

more shopping

Today was one of the longest days EVER!!!

I only got about six hours of sleep since I didn’t home till late last night.

I started my day at Costco, dropping off my car to get the tires rotated.  From there I walked over to the shopping center.  I went into all the stores, except the ones past Ross’s.  I traded my size eight boots for a half a size smaller and returned the brown boots some people think are black.  I also bought this neat ‘as seen on TV’ fashion ‘toy’.  I bought one for me and one for mom.  I also bought mom a pants extender button.

Once I got back to Costco I walked around and tried their samples.  I called mom while I was there and something was really wrong with her but she wouldn’t tell me.  She sounded like she had been crying.  At first I thought David had left her, but towards the end of the conversation I thought it had more to do with her job.  I only bought a few items while there: breath right strips, a couple of Misto’s, some fruit, and a five lb container of Danish butter cookies for David for Christmas.

Next up a visit to Wal Mart.  I spent more time in there than I wanted.  I went through their Halloween stuff and picked up a few items; shirts, candy, cookie cutters, a costume,  - I think that’s it.  I also picked up the dog food (main reason I was there) and some bananas.

While I was out Allison called to tell me about the Santa suits at Essex, so I went there afterwards.  They weren’t really suits.  It was bottoms with a hat attached, not literally, but they just came together.  I also dug through a bin and picked out some Halloween and fall colored earrings – nine for fifteen cents! as well as another twelve cans of expensive pedigree dog food for Izzie.

I called my IL’s on the way home, but they were napping.  When I got home I started to get my bottles (forgot to mention that I put sixteen or so bottles in the tub and soaked them all day) and peel them.  As I was sticking my hand in the water my FIL called and invited me to dinner: a burger from Mo’s.  Carolyn and I ate dinner and watched movies.  After we finished eating she helped me peel my bottles.  We also ate some ice cream and then coffee a bit later.
We watched Maid in Manhattan and Love Actually; which she had never seen either!

It’s close to twelve and I’m exhausted and pretty cold (the quilt is in the dryer and I’m hoping it’s dry – I put it in when I got home close to five).

My high today: ?... bottles cleaned; one step to being complete with x-mas gifts.

Hope your Saturday was good, thanks…
